I was thinking of ways to make the bases worth protecting in star hawk, and I realized, wouldn’t it be cool if you could upgrade buildings that have survived long enough?
For example, say you build a wall or a gate. If it survives for 3 minutes, then you could go to the control panel and press O to upgrade it to a more durable version, free of charge! At 7 minutes you could even upgrade it again. The same could happen for other structures, such as Garages and Hangers spawning higher quality vehicles, Turrets doing more damage, shields having a longer radius, etc.
I think this would be a good way to increase the importance of base building in star hawk, cause I’m finding that all too often people do little more than throw down a few structures before running off to go get kills. Right now there isn’t much reason to protect and repair existing structures instead of just letting them collapse and then replacing them, aside from getting the “repairman” medal.
This system would create incentive for people to place structures early on and then keep them around for extended periods. It would also make it important to destroy the enemy’s structures periodically to stop them from acquiring upgraded structures.
I think this would make Starhawk much more unique, adding focus to having a some of the team hang back and protect the base while others go off to war, instead of abandoning it for much of the match.
And while we’re on the topic, how does one get the Repairman medal? I really want it!
What do you guys think?

I don`t like this idea. The B&B feature is already the main focus of the game, so giving it even more attention would be a bad move in my opinion.
I guess, that you like strategy games and I do as well, but I don`t want Starhawk turning into one.
I prefer a fast paced game just like Warhawk, while having the B&B as a suplementary tool only.
I really enjoy the B&B, but for its quick use right here and right now, rather than for building mazes in bases.
Dropping various structures in the heat of the battle is just cool and useful, but it doesn`t slow down the game, like conquering fortresses.
The abandoned structures all over the battlefield make more unique setting and will surely make some intense moments...nothing like making it to a friendly garage, while the whole enemy homebase is shooting your way to stop that flag.
