I have to say the latest nerfing of the mech is horrible. I'm not just saying this because I feel its bad, but I'm voicing the opinion of many.
Let me summarise. Ok so you have a dilemma, you've witnessed mechs ravaging bases pretty brutally.
Fair point but the betas been out a while and having small maps set up, of which there are only two, then players are going get good VERY QUICKLY.
Also you've decided to let warheads in to test it out. I appreciate that I really do, but we warheads have been playing its predecessor for almost 4 years, we are at the very tip of intuitive combat, we know how to take bases, destroy bases and cause havoc.
I put it to you that that's why games have been ravages. In a sense, having small maps, constantly repeated with warhawk veterans is a cocktail of carnage.
Your a victim of your own demise.
Listen to this for a scenario. My server put up for several hours at the weekend, attract some top flight players from my history as a warhead, very competitive games, not one single BASE-RAVAGE, and that's simply because everyone was organised, everyone anticipated conflict and everyone communicated.
I feel strongly that the essence of Starhawk the Hawk its self has completely lost its effect in the game. It doesn't fit the name of the game whatsoever, troops don't fear a mech no more because you've took on board the thoughts of un-organised newer players.
Us veterans and established players are deeply not happy with the new mech system, my biggest gripe is the reduction from a volley of 4 to 2 and the increased grenade effect. Grenades are elusive and hard enough to see anyways and with the volley of 2, hawx are just slow now and sluggish in terms of presence.
The game has took a large step backward in the sense of having that high octane war effect of warhawk.
Now I'm sure you listen carefully to what's been said on the ground v air debate and I respect and appreciate all your involvement but this latest update has unsettled a lot of people and I felt it had to be brought up accordingly.
I would like to add that you guys have done a great job with the game, and every update so far has been fair and its justification probably has suited it, you listen to us and react to us, but you guys are only human so mistakes can be made, with this recent update I think this has been the first.
Thanks for your time.

I agree.
When you consider a Hawk costs 3 bars of Rift (not including the launch pad which is an extra 3), it needs to be powerful. If I save up the rift required, buy a hawk, fly over to the enemy base then start blowing up what is undoubtedly going to be a huge fortress, I don't want an enemy troop who has just spawned to be able to kill me with a couple of grenades. Mech vs troop should be pretty unfair for the troop. If they're in a weapons bunker shooting rockets at me then fine, they should have the advantage, but not when they're standing on their own in a big empty space with just the weapons they spawned with.

I disagree strongly.
You have seen mechs ravaging bases brutally right and when that happens there is no way for the ravaged base to build itself back up. There is not enough rift when you start and if as soon as you get enough to build one building 2 mechs decend and totally annihilate it you have to spend much more time trying to gather more rift to get it back up.
I used to be a warhawk veteran, played for 3.5 years before finally stopping and actually playing other games. I don't play anymore because of "warheads" like you (in general). If everyone was the same level in the game (all noobs or all vets) the games would be more balanced.
The point you put forward about your server speaks this exactly. It attracted top flight people from your history and the matches were fair and basically balanced. But when you go to any other server I would say 60% would include base raping.
Ofcourse the Vets are going to be ***** it is always going to happen. You are used and have learned the old system and dislike the change. But when this game actually gets through to release day and the influx of new players are experiencing base raping in 80% of their matches they wont find it fun. People need a way to fight back.
Its too late now but did you actually join a map where base raping was occuring and try and fight the game from a ground troopers perspective? Or did you just not realise because you was in the air all the time?
You acknowledge there was base raping but you didnt put forward another solution that may have stopped it. "Hurr durr get better" and "Beam turrents" are not solutions.

They tried to solve a problem from the completely wrong perspective.

I did put forward a bunch of suggestions and none were about making hawks/mechs weaker or making grenades do more damage. Sure, there's a balance issue, but the problem rests in the lack of options for the baseraped players to fight against, not in these changes they made. The problem is more within the concept of B&B than anything else. Too much freedom and no order about it, all frailty and no integrity to the stuff available to players.
When mechs ravage a base, what the other players don't have is places for shelter, vehicles, buildings, i.e., defenses. By beefing up the grenades, LBI did not solve anything, they just made it frustrating for those who rightfully developed their skills.
I agree that ground soldiers get the means to fight back, i just don't think that means the hawks need to be transformed into the elephant afraid of a mouse.

strong words lol, i have played warhawk for over 3 yrs, and being base raped was never fun but in my opinion it learnt me a lot , i would take out the hawks from the ground with the rpg and tanks(LOL), i beleive it made me a better ground player but i never feared a hawk or a vet in this game at all, everyone can be taken down. Starhawk is a great game i believe that adjusting the mech this much was a mistake, i believe that yes it may have needed to be tweeked a bit , but a troop should not be able to take out a mech quicker than a mech, i applaud what lightbox have created so far but the mech needs to be more powerful than this as this being a beta i hope it will be fixed, i am not a brilliant air guy but i am the average all rounder, i do well in every aspect of the game but i get owned as well
