Red Dead Redemption

I recently got a new ps3 after my old one broke. So I had to start over on all of my games. I had a go on RDR and as expected my saves were gone on single player, but I was also back to level 1 on multiplayer. I thought the multiplayer content was saved online, like Cod. Can I get my level back or am I doomed to start over again? Also on the Rockstar Social club it still has all my old multiplayer stats.

Unfortunately all RDR multiplayer progression is saved in a multiplayer save file. 

The only advice i can give is regularly back up the save file in future to either PS+ or USB memory.
