This is odd. I've been playing Red Dead for hours day in day out. I just went to play it and my PS3 couldn't read the disc. So I took the disc out and noticed a small crack coming from the centre ring leading out to where the data starts. I have no idea how this could happen as I teat my games better than I treat myself as gaming is my life. I Googled to find if there was anyway of getting a replacement disc and noticed a lot of peoples copy of Red Dead for the PS3 as had a crack appear on the disc in the same place as mine.

What could possibly have caused this? My PS3 Slim as never damaged a disc before. You can imagine how I feel after paying £49.99 for the collectors Edition for this to happen. I've sent a message to Rockstar Support to see if I can get a replacement disc. I'll be furious if they don't help.

I know that some discs have been cracked by the cases, the spindles on some seem to grip the discs like a vice, but if you haven't used your case since you got the game it seems unlikely it has happened to you. In the cases I mentioned above some Company's replace the game for free when the broken one was returned and others had to pay an admin fee to get a replacement disc. Does it say anything in the instructions at the back of the RDR booklet ?

The same thing happend to me I've played the game for like 20+ hours and came one day to continue playing and guess what my ps3 won't read the disc.

This has to be dealt with I'm so mad $65 in trash....

This has happened to me also a week or so ago, I contacted Rockstar and they wanted £15 for a replacement to be sent out.

This happened to me too in 2008 with the Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction disk. I didn't know how this happened either since it broke while it was in the machine (and not as Sony say it could have happened by it cracking when I took it out of the BD case clip). I sent the disk to Sony and a couple weeks later sent it back to me saying that it is not Sony's fault and therefore won't compensate me.

Nothing you can do other than to buy a new disk, I'm afraid.

P.S. Rockstar will defo not help since it not their fault it broke, and if Sony's stance hasn't changed they won't help either.
