Not a bug in sight here, I don't think it's a fault with the game.  Although my PS3's fan does go into overdrive playing RDR, not during other games.  Bit worrying that.

I think it's the heat. Totally different game but FIFA WC 2010 froze on me last night after having it on for about an hour. It's so hot though that an hour is the equivalent of having it on all day on a cold day. I'd watch it in the heat if I were you. Afterall, the YLOD is linked to melted motherboard parts. Things don't melt unless there's, yes you've guess it, lots of heat.

I had the freezing problems also. Today the game froze and then console shut down. My 60gb ps3 was struck by YLOD while playing rdr...

Its crashed on me once but apart from the I havnt had any problems with bugs or glitches at all and im 25% completed and about 8 hours worth of multiplayer.

One thing i have noticed that i've never noticed before is the Blu-Ray drive seems to be in overdrive while playing RDR you can here it every other second spin the disc which it doesnt do for any of my other games, or ive never heard it but either way it's a coincedance that you people are having Blu-Ray issues. I was getting abit worried about the sound of the drive while i was playing it yesterday.

The drive and fans go banana's on mine with this game, same as GTAIV.

same happens to me i get about 20 minutes of game play then it freezes the fan and disc reader go into to overdrive is this a glitch with the game or my playstation?

OK I've hoovered the vents out and its improved the fan volume.  I think you guys are right about it being the heat, plus the game obviously gives the cell a good workout so will contribute to the heat.  I'm gonna just keep an eye on it and hoover it daily while its hot.

I called Sony before I posted on here and they recommended that I back up my data and do a full system restore... I'm quite sceptical about it but I'll give it a go once I get hold of an external HDD.

i've had the freezing problems in single player and multiplayer. called take2 support and they told me to put my ps3 in a DMZ, told them i already had which stumped them so they said they'd email me back. that was friday.

I'm backing up the HDD as I'm writing this. Then I'm gonna do a full system restore. I heard it takes up to 4 hours... better open a few tinnies...
