Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

So i completed resistance 3 earlier on today. The story was great for the most part, but i really hated the ending. It was just so abrupt and it answered nothing. They kept on mentioning feral chimera and the hive mind so i expected that to have a bigger part to play in the story, and how come we never got to see any pure chimera coming through the worm hole? I didn't even realise the game had ended until the final cutscene with Capelli and his family.

So those are my thoughts on it anyway.

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

I thought that the campaign was brilliant. I was however expecting the ending to answer alot more questions but like you said it ended rather abruptly. Perhaps the intel which you can collect gives some explanations to these questions?

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

I really liked this game, but there are certain things about it that just annoyed me.

Firstly, I completed it in 6 hours 45 mins, which is just too short.

Also I find myself annoyed at things which weren't explained or which were left out of the story altogether, such as:

1. Where was the wormhole leading to exactly?? I mean, we saw it at the end of the last game, all we got as an explanation in this game was 'It's a wormhole'....

2. Where were the Cloven??? This one really bugs me, as after all the intel docs in the first two games about them (e.g the one taking down a goliath with its bare hands), they aren't even mentioned in this game, despite the world returning to normal (ish) in the credits. :Argh:

The ending itself also gave us very little information, and is probably my least favourite of the 3 endings. R:FOM left you wanting more, R2 left us hanging, but R3 was just way too abrupt & didn't feel like a natural conclusion to the story.

Despite all that, I did really enjoy this game, I mean it looked great, the story was good (apart from the ending) & the battles were fantastic, but all of the above left me disappointed :smileysad:

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

I keep thinking how epic it would have been if a pure chimera came through the worm hole just as it was closing :smileysad: it would have been cool if we saw the mysterious second alien race that defeated the chimera last time aswell.

i used 11 hours and 43min on the main game, thats two days of gaming... and i consider that fast. if family/work had come in the way i would used a week........ so you must  be a superman at games to get it done in 6h and 45min.

What can I say!! I'm pretty good at shooters & had the platinum in R2, so I got it done quicker than average, but still, tooooo short.

I would however like to backtrack on my original post, I was in a terrible mood at the time! While the game is too short, the ending makes much more sense if you pick up the Malikov journal explaining that the pure chimera are about to come through the wormhole. It's a bit frustrating that one of them didn't end up being a final boss or something....but the game is still very very good. Still prefer R:FoM though..

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

The story at the end was a let down it felt rushed everything was in place for and epic bit of gaming then bang a cop out!

What about he feral Chimera and the story about a second race living under the earth which beat them off last time they invaded, before the rise of mankind.

I was expecting something special due to the build up, so unless there is a 4th one I feel let down, but it feels that everything should have been wrapped up here and the series finished especially as the muiltiplayer has been CODIFIED.

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

Compared to the rest of the excellent campaign I felt from when you first get to New York onwards it all became a bit generic. Despite it being the best campaign yet, the ending was actually the worst yet and slightly anti-climatic. It was made out as if all was now rosy because the worm hole was shut, but what about the rest of the military and feral chimera that remain on earth?

Re: Resistance 3 ending (SPOILERS)

I thought that the campaign was great, apart from the ending, which felt a bit like when a film just cuts to black, and it didn't really explain what happened afterwards either, and also part of me died when i reached the New York level near the end of the game, about 42% of games seem to be set in New York these days, although the other levels in the game were much better in my opinion, like Haven and the level where you encounter the Wardens. :smileyhappy:
