Re: Single Player thoughts.

Where to begin, after finishing Resistance 2 i was hungry for more, i wanted more of the story so i was delighted that finally Resistance 3 had arrived. Being low on budget at the moment i traded in 2 games for R3 and couldn't wait to start playing it.

I notice patch 1.02  and thought great, bug fixes released. I started the game and all was well, I had to get used to the new graphic choice of the game and although not overly impressed it wasn't that bad. Still, personally I prefer the R2 setup. It's an opinion ;)

During the game I got directed to a small shed to help out a few lads and got handed the marksman. ..... and that was it .... i was moving about and nothing happened, so i waited, and waited some more, however the AI was not moving and the door remained closed. No worries, i'll quit and restart the section .... pressed start, nothing, pressed select nothing ... hmmm .... game frozen perhaps, no biggie, turn of the ps3 and restart ... or maybe not, the ps3 would not turn of the regular way, i had to pull the plug at the  back on order to be able to power it off!

But hey, stuff happens, let's move on.

Work came and went and i did some more gaming and met a nice fella in some tunnels who decided to show me the way, fast fecker he was, left me no time to explore the areas and kept on running and running and nagging me if something needed to be done, relax dude, i'm looking around, some ammo here, hidden audio there... you know.

Anywho, he needed to apply some fixes while i would protect him, no biggie, he did his thing and i did mine until he got attacked , i killed his attacker but the text that he needed help would not go away from the screen? So i went towards him but nothing happened, he moved a bit when i moved away but that was it, no progress of the game... so quit game, and restart ... at this stage, not impressed , for a game that was that long in the making it has some dodgy code in there.

While all this happens btw, i have fallen through the map over a dozen time in different place throughout the game.

I then decided to go onto multi player ... I knew about the no co op like R2 and was very disappointed with this but got over it and started to play the multi player, well i tried that is.. besides fighting the lag i also had a lot of difficulty as a rank 0 to stay alive against 6 others, one my own, in a team based object game .... o.0

I've tried several times but the balancing and matchmaking is very poor that it doesn't entice me to play any more. Not to mention the graphics, glitches and falling through the maps, spanning behind or in front of your enemy.

Seriously Insomniac, R:FOM and R2 were absolutely  brilliant games and this is what you come up with for the third installment? The Co op in R2 made me want to play every day with my friends, now, my friends didn't even bother getting it because it was not implemented which caused another small problem seeing that the campaign co op has no matchmaking :(

I was really looking forward to this and R&C but now, i think i'll think twice about that seeing the rush job that was made of this :(

I really wish my first post would have been "What an awesome game!" but i just can't. The story is great but the glitches just ruin it for me.

Re: Single Player thoughts.

I've just reach New York. So far it's good. The level designs are pretty cool, graphics are top notch. Story is dead on. Gameplay is grand. But I do feel like I've played it before, nothing new at all really. I can't pinpoint it, but I feel like something is missing.

Or it could just be that I've never been a massive fan of the games, there great and all, but I don't think I've ever even recommended them to anyone or spoke about them before.

I will say that the guns in this game are great, I love the upgrade system, & the design are the weapons are awesome.

My eyesight could all be going if I thought they were great haha. I thought it was the same engine they used for KZ3? At least I think they look similar.

Totally agree with everything said there. I noticed that you had posted that and another thread on the Insomniac Games forum which were promptly locked by the moderators.

It seems to me that they are trying to clamp down on negative threads because every single one that gets posted is either deleted or locked.

Yea, i posted one more then after the second just to rise them a bit, to be fair, that was taken well :smileywink:

I think people didn't read my feedback as it should have been read and saw it as me putting the game or Insomniac games down. I did get a bit ***** off with people calling me a liar etc but i'm bigger then that to be honest.

I love the Resistance series which is the only reason i posted it as i was looking forward to another excellent installment, unfortunately, it was a letdown.

Re: Single Player thoughts.

I think it's absolutely, absolutely fantastic. Much more intense than R2. It goes to show that it's not always necessary to add multiplayer in a game.

Re: Single Player thoughts.

I have only watched the cutscenes online, but there so should have been a message from Rachel Parker at the end of the credits hinting that it isn't over.
