Check by the trophies is often a good indicator - especially when they hide a load of campaign ones at the top of the list.

I would say to explore the map fully before doing The Final Battle, but...

The Final Battle is a bit of a joke - it's actually about half way. But if you want to explore the world, do it before this mission, for reasons that will become apparent when you've done the quest. Plus, a few more levels wouldn't hurt you for after either

Just had my first cockatrice fight....  Good gawd, those things are aggressive.  At first I thought it was just a cheap retexture of the Griffin (four legs, wings etc...) but dang it- ALL my pawns died!  The two guest pawns that I paid a fortune in RC for not a couple of hours before?  DEAD.    So annoyed.

.....But ****!  What a fight!    That's why I love this game!

I just walked into that first fight too. 

noone died but I had no lotions and potions as I was taking Sasha out for a boosting roam. Everyone survived and the bugger flew off !

I'm still enjoying this but there is ALOT of room for improvement. The pawn system actually works quite well (shame about their AI)

Looks to be an ip to keep an eye on

Was it a random encounter or the scripted fight?

I got turned to stone by one. It was awesome. I just got slower and slower until I froze and went brown. Then he walked over and smashed me into little pieces...

I fought my first archhydra yesterday too. Epic.

Best fight so far has been the Golem fights.

Ive managed to activate the one down near cutlass cove but the witches one I cant bring to life in the same way so there must be a different trigger

You need to have the quest 'WitchHunt' after meeting the Duke, the other Golem Boss will be available called 'Mettle against Metal' after that quest completes. You'll also find the quest 'Dragon's Tongue' in the same area.

'Twas the scripted one, in Gran Soren.  Looked much bigger from outside the city, but meh.....

Got thrown off a cliff by a cyclops today.    And tried to fight the Drake in Devilfire Grove- lasted longer than the first time I tried (which was about 30 seconds, for the record  )  Still got raped.

0.0 havent fought a cockatrice yet but I was out on a lil exploration trip and just as I crossed the bridge on a hill on the left hand side were some guards standing round a cockatrice corps which had no apparent damage to it but was dead, Im guessing this was a hint to future events 0.0.

petrification i could handle but the harpies, sulphur saurians and the cocatrice was a bit one sided....
