Ok, this game is offically a time-devourer.  Started playing it when I got home from work...... and suddenly 5 hours had passed.

Loving it so far- it's smooth and bug free.  Combat's fun- just starting to get into warrior/maging, with some exciting results.

^This. Played it all day yesterday then again last night (was supposed to be only having an hour on it, ended up playing till 3 am) almost 11 hours into it at the mo. It's really enjoyable though the scottish accent on one of the female gnomes is terrible...like a female version of ***** Van *****'s cockerney accent...only worse somehow....

Two thumbs up thus far from me. :smileytongue:

Re: Kingdoms of amalur:Reckoning Impressions

Enjoying it so far but i have a bounty of over 100,000 and no way of paying it of yet.I may just start over and this time make sure i dont get such a big bounty was a moment of madness killing everyone in sight in town.
Or is there a way of clearing bountys without haveing to pay anyone know?

Re: Kingdoms of amalur:Reckoning Impressions

I'm enjoying this game. Its decent, but does feel like a 7/10 kinda game.
Anybody got any tips, highlights or stories?
Ask Skyrim players and everybody has a unique tale regarding random encounters.. I havent come across anything memorable in Reckoning.. am I alone?

Don't they clear once you've been to jail? I'm on a quest to get prison keys and my 27,000 bounty got wiped after release...but I didn't murder anyone lol let alone a whole town or village. :smileyvery-happy:

It does remind me of Dungeon Siege albeit a far superior game than DS's last offering/s.I don't think KoA:R is a goty but it's a good little time-waster that's enjoyable to play. Can't help wondering if I've been spoiled by the gritty realism (?) in alot of games, this game isn't dark and brooding which could be something I'm missing, as you say it's a 7 or 8 out of ten from me but I'm not one of those "every game must be a 10" kinda players. (Not saying that anyone else is before I get accused of such either lol).

It's been a while since I've played skyrim because I wanted to wait till the bugs/glitches were sorted out (not that I had many but the worry of something going wrong further into the game worried me alot)...so maybe the comparison between the two isn't so strong in my mind too.

Yeah my bounty was cleared after going to jail cost me 344 experenice points but still enjoying the game. The camera is a bit annoying with it being too close but there suppose to be doing something about this.

Alot of people have been having problems with the PC version, not had any probs with mine though apart from the minor niggle with camera when talking to people so I'm glad they're going to be sorting it. :smileyhappy:

Re: Kingdoms of amalur:Reckoning Impressions

hey hey

its a bit generic and bland.

been playing for around 4hrs this evening and there has been nothing to make me go "wow" or even "remotely hmm thats interesting"

the gameplay so far appears to be a cut and paste job of everything else in this genre but on a lesser and lower quality level.

The destiny concept hasnt developed yet as im still just in the early stages but it initially doesnt feel like its going to give me that much freedom and your still going to be tied into the mage/rogue/warrior roles regardless of destiny.

changing people fate by killing them ?  makes no sense (currently)

there (again, initially) appears to be no real good/evil rhetoric and the minimal decisions ive made so far havent had any impact on my character.

the UI is poor and they have taken the sublimely smooth Mass Effect conversation wheel thingy but made it horrifically clunky.

All in all my initial impression is that of a cheap, bog standard, RPG with "borrowed" elements from DAII, LOTR and any other RPG you can think of.

a little uninspiring but nothing glaringly bad.

I know the demo has technical issues due to outsourcing, and I can easily overlook those. It's more the core design of the game just made it feel...I dunno - flat I guess. It's whole host of minor problems with design that all add up to make the game undesirable until it's cheaper.

it does feel a little flat and there isnt much improvement over how the demo played out.  Invisible walls are still rampant :/

no bugs or glitches like the demo had and its certainly more polished but gameplay wise its on par with the demo.

its also littered with chance based gameplay.   yes, RPG's are like that at their core but again, this feels like its been implemented badly.

@ infinitestates... I wasnt sure by your post which game you were referring to with the combat comment

Fair comment. Have to say I've played it a bit more today and though I've not moved the story on at all (been doing the sidequests and opening up new areas) and I too feel a bit flat. Don't know if I'll perk up again as I move the story on though..
