Mass Effect 2 Speed Run (sort off).

I've started Mass Effect 2 again after playing it originally for 76 hours so I have done everything the game has to offer already so don't worry, I'm not missing out :smileywink:

Originally I was too hesitant with my relationship and although I wanted Ashley at heart, I was a bit flirty with the other options testing the water so to speak and thinking too far ahead. But when I finally tried it on with her (even Miranda) I got the cold shoulder and had obvioulsy gone past the point of no return. Ashley's picture is still up in my quarters so I don't think all is lost though.

I lost one member in my Suicide Mission (Zaeed), so I want to get as many people to survive as possible playing as a Paragon character.

So I'm thinking, if I recruit all members as my first priority, do I need to do their loyalty missions after that, or can I get through the Suicide Mission without? Even if I do their loyalty missions It shouldn't take as long as I wont be doing any side quests or exploring or anything else that isn't really necessary.

NOW PLAYING:  Max Payne 3

You can't skip to many loyality missions as thats why people die.

Spoiler
You won't survive the suiside misson if you don't do enough loyality missions. Yep Bioware did program that ending in. joker will fly the normandy away. with eds help only. you will die in a cut scene.

You lose people on the suicide mission because the Loyality of the crew is rated to low for that stage.

Speed upgrade

IMO the loyalty missions are core missions that you have the option to skip rather than optional missions - meaning that although you don't have to do them its a significant disadvantage not to rather than losing out on a bit of xp or money.

Re: Mass Effect 2 Speed Run (sort off). Spoilers

Yeah I cant help myself and realised this game cannot be rushed so I'm only concentrating on recruiting, the loyalty missions and upgrading the ship (which is easy as I imported my previous character so I have money and minerals coming out of my ears). So I wont be doing any side missions, or exploring so It shouldn't take long. Not 76 something hours like my original playthrough was anyway :smileywink:

I want to collect a few trophies that I missed (not bothered about the plat or playing it again on insane) like the suicede one for keeping everyone alive and the one for Zaheed (who I lost) but that would have given me renegade points so I didn't do it before. The other is paramour as I was so picky in my relationship that I flirted with everyone and ended going past the point of no return, besides I wanted to stay faithful to Ashley so I will have two options in Mass Effect 3 that I will be able to explore depending on who I pursue now as well.

doesnt a speed run sort of defeat the point of an RPG :smileytongue: definately dont skip the loyalty missions if you want everyone to survive the point of no return is the Reaper IFF mission, but its ok to do Legions loyalty mission though as you only pick him up after it.

ive got various playthroughs waiting to be continued in ME3 my idea one is a paragon 100% complete with all crew and squad members saved and Liara as me bit on the side :smileyhappy: i let ashley die cause she whines to much in mass effect 1 :smileyvery-happy:

Yeah you need to do all the loyalty missions before the final mission, also when the final mission comes and you can pick members of your team to do certain things you need to pick certain ones for each role.

Think I might blast through it again tbh. Line everything up the way I want it for ME3. Save Ashley, get into bed with Miranda :smileyvery-happy: and save everyone. Might just stick it on easy to make it quicker.

I only need to complete the game on Insane difficulty for the Platinum...is this rock hard or achievable fairly fast? Do you still 'complete' the game and get the trophy if Shepard dies in the final mission?

Like I said in my OP, I've already played it and enjoyed it (76 hours :smileywink:) I just wanted to sort out my relationship I messed up on originally, and get a few trophies I missed like the one for keeping everyone alive. And also just to refresh my memory how the story left off so I'm not puzzled at the start of Mass Effect 3 :smileyhappy:

My second playthrough on medium (recruit, and loyalty quests only - no side quests) took me about 34 hours which was longer then I expected but I nailed down and did it in about 3 or 4 days lol.

I have all but the insane difficulty trophy as well and If I must be fair I found the game challenging on normal so I have no intentions of trying insane (which I switched to for a while in game just to try it and thankfully gave up the idea quick sharpish) :smileysad:
