Skryim Race Selection

Hey, 

 

I got Skyrim recently and can't decide on which race to choose. I kinda want to be a mage with melee/fighting abilities . . . Any suggestions for which race I should choose and why? I was thinking of High Elf, Nord, or Imperial.

A mage with fighting abilities?  Um..... I guess High Elf would be best if you put magic first- you can conjure weapons.
