Does anyone remember Omega Weapon (the guy) from the olden days. I think he deals with Hentai porn nowadays (genuinely).

Anyway he always insisted on COMPLETELY completing every FF. And I don't mean completely completeing like I did. I mean he had to have the maximum number possible of every item. Totally maxed out stats. etc.

Now it took him several hundred hours to achieve this in FF7. FF8 he never finished properly.

But his main task was FFX (which has the potential to be HUUUGGGGEEE). He spent something like 800 hours on it in the end and barely scratched the surface.

Thats dedication.

I would have to say FFX, although saying that i haven't completed many others. I have about 250 hours of gametime on there, arguably about 50 was spent on pause. My brother added a further 100 hours (in two weeks as well) on blitzball. So the total is close to 350. And i never even got to beat any dark aeons on that save, but i did get Tidus' celestial weapon fully released and do the 200 lightning bolts dodging for Lulu's sigil. Surely the longest rpg would have to be an mmo what with their low experience gain and constant updates.

Longest: It all depends on how much time you are willing to spend on them.

I personally think FF8 and FF7 were long. Since I spent well over 200+ hours on each. Games like Phantom Brave and Disgaea let you get really high levels (9999, I think). FFX was alright, but let us not speak of FFX-2.

[Yep, L9999, but there are some tricks to get L9999 demons within a few hours.

Xenosaga Ep. 1

40 hours should be enough to finish the game and all the sidequests.

Hack series (pretend they are all one giant game)

Even then the total length is not much more than 60-70 hours.

Kingdom Hearts was kinda short IMO.

Never finished this one, so no comment.

Star Ocean 3: It was pretty good but once you get the best weps, there really was no point.

Tri-Ace fans will want to challenge the classic bosses and Lenneth and Freya.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne was long, but half way through, I just gave up and couldn't play anymore.

You should finish it some day. The story really picks up in the later half.

Wild Arms series, totally awesome IMO

Wild Arms: 30-45 hours
Wild Arms 2: 35-50 hours
Wild Arms 3: 35-50 hours
Wild Arms 4: 25-45 hours

Jade Cocoon: I think it's as long as Legend of Dragoon.

15-20 hours, unless you want to spend a lot of time in the endless dungeon to get stronger monsters.

Shortest: Definitely Evolution Worlds. The entire game takes place in one town. The point is that you have to get to the highest level of the dungeon...yes, just one dungeon, to win. I literally beat it in about 10 hours (the Dreamcast version at least), kinda sad...

Yeah, you had to throw those Felines on eachother, and then let them level on the Geopanels or something.
Ontopic: Disgaea 2 and Oblivion are really long games, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned a Monster Hunter? Aren't those games really long too?
