Has to be Final Fantasy X for me.

Pretty much for the same reason as the OP and other posters.

Sure, the ending was essentially one giant dues ex machina - but the combat and leveling system was perfect (not to mention Blitzball was great)

Can't wait for the remastered version!

That's right, I'm a grown man and I enjoyed final fantasy 9 more than any others. Yes, the main characters were younger, and there was a little too much juvenile zaniness but it was coupled with absolutely fantastic cut scenes and characters you cared about.

I've played

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (finished), 6(finished), 7, 8, 9 (finished), 10 and 12-2 (this was awful. While playing I vomited a little in the back of my throat because all substance and story seemed to be replaced by flashy scenes{note to the game designers- if every single shot makes your lead character look "majestic" then, the character never actually will be, because there's no moments of triumph or strength,} and pretentious plot)

Favourite Final Fantasy has to be VII.

I loved it so much, the best thing I enjoyed about it was the materia system.  (Also loved Chocobo Breeding)

Will add as well my worst FF; FFVIII.

Game was very easy, Guardian Forces made the game... too easy?  Never felt the solidness of the game; felt like I was cheating my way through.  Still a great game however.

IX was actually the first FF I ever played, so it was my introduction to the series.

I enjoyed it too, once I got into it.

Come to think of it, it was probably the first ever RPG I played.
