The game is OK, there are a few things here and there that need changed but nothing game breaking.

My main problem is that I feel like im playing alone. Trying to join friends is complete hit or miss, games fill up fast so if someone you know gets into one chances are you won't. Its basically like I am back playing COD just joining random games to kill an hour and then logging off.

At least with lobbies you could arrange to meet in a certain room or all find one with space etc but just now I go through everyone on my friends list when I play and usually can't join any of them, if I get in a game chances are im on the opposite team.

I really hope that they can improve this for release because it is a total killer for me, I dont like just getting pumped into a random games with a bunch of americans listening to eminem far too loud you can't even tell what they are saying. I can slug this out for a week or so but then i get fed up logging in and being put in games with random people that aren't even remotely interested in playing the game for the win just kills and calling eachother *****.

I know how you feel. Random fun is good sometimes, but it's nice to at least have the option to play with your friends. Killzone 3 had (or still has) similar problems, but that at least had a basic squad lobby system.

I dunno, maybe they're trying to put the focus on the Co-op gamplay modes

Aye even if your friends list could have an indicator to tell you if the person is in a full game or not, it would help somewhat.

The thing is, with lobbies, you knew where your friends were and you could physically locate the room and wait on a space opening up, if a person dropped out of a game you could get back to that game easily because you knew where it was.

I'm too attached to the lobby system, its one of the things i hated about every other game ive played over the years that they dont have it and now SOCOM has ditched it too, i thought i could get by without it but it makes a massive difference. Even named lobbies like EU you could at least assume it have some europeans in it, but now i get put in games with americans whether i like it or not.

And by that I think you mean that we ALWAYS, without fail, get put into lobbies with Americans 
Seriously, they're like a disease. They just sort of......appear everywhere.

Anyway, getting back on topic, it wouldn't be so bad if they just reduced lobby support, but the problem, like you're saying, is that there just flat-out isn't anything in the way of a lobby system. Not a single option.

It seems to be a bad habit of game developers these days that they seem to be removing more features than they're adding.

What saddened me is that in the latest Zipper podcast they talked about all the things fans were talking about...except lobbies. Not a single mention.

The earlier comment about games with randoms is true - it can work well on some games, but it doesn't work on SOCOM sadly.

They have said that the full game will support a party system - just that it wasn't in the Beta. Would be nice if it supported party chat too some way too. If people are forced to use other systems to communicate just within their party - i.e. use party chat on the 360 at the same time - then Zipper remove the control to stop people who are dead chatting with people who are still alive. Which is a problem in no respawn games.

Theres a party system but not in the beta. Lobbies are good but ucrr are even better bring them back

I have alot of American friends on SOCOM, most SOCOM players are Adults and get along with eachother, dosent matter where there from...  If your a Cod player or w/e i can understand your gripe, but thats just teenage imaturity..

P3L on the full game will probly be playing alot of clan games anyways, so that should be good enough for me... Or a custom game will keep me happy..

They have also said that there well be some sort of area ZCRR, Zipper created ranked rooms, so we can try and get all the clan and friends in like S-con, fingers crossed.

These are on the BETA, its the custom games that are set up for you, scrum etc Just like any other game type all you do is hit X and it puts you into a random one with random people unless you are in a party.

You don't get a choice you just go where Zipper says, Lobbies just made everything so much easier.

I can't for instance go online and go, OH P3L are in there, i like those guys I will go and join them. I have to have everyone i want to play with on my friends list to even have a chance of joining them.

There were always games on SOCOM 2/3 where id see a clans name on the room and join in, they were good guys and knew id get a good game, we werent friends but we knew eachothers screen names. I don't want to have a friends list that is hundreds of people long just for the chance to play with other community members.

The whole party system and no visible lobbies that FPS games have brought us are just horrific.
