Would I have to buy an NTSC PS2 along with an NTSC copy of SOCOM 2? I live in the UK and I heard they shut down the EU servers and apparently this is what you need to do to connect to the NA servers. I tried calling Sony to find out whether or not this'll work but they were kinda useless and couldn't confirm. Hopefully someone on here has done this or knows of someone who has? Thanks for reading

Yes the EU servers are all offline for Socom II so you need to buy a NTSC PS2 and a NTSC copy of the game as they are region locked. I wouldn't really say there were so many people playing Socom II online anymore and would say there will be more players on Combined Assault.  They only way we can get EU servers back is by playing through LAN on Xlink Kia

Are you sure though? The server you're connected to is based on format and not your IP? I just wanna make sure I'm not buying an American PS2 only to find out that it doesn't work haha and do you know how many people tend to be online on average?

Looks like they're shutting down the servers across the pond too.

Well I guess they had to come down sometime. Some of those servers have been running over a decade, so can't really complain, and at least the Yankee Doodles were given a couple of days notice. No such courtesy was shown to us here in Europe.

Socom has been dying off for awhile, As E3 is next week just like many others i am hoping for some sort of socom announcement e.g a remake etc Thats either the reason why the usa servers are closing down so more people will buy the remake or there just killing off the ranchise.
