SOCOM: Confrontation Detailed Tournament Features
Hi All,
A number of you have had the chance to participate in the new tournaments. We hope many more of you will participate as we offer more of them. Tournaments will begin being scheduled for different times of the day to accommodate players around the globe. Please bear with us as the size of the tournaments is ramped up over the coming weeks.
There have been a number of questions about specific mechanics behind tournaments. More information about several features can be found below.
Creating a Team
By far the biggest demand in the tournament has been for those wishing to create their own teams; however this is not the only way to guarantee participation in the tournament. If you are unable to create your own but do not want to risk not being assigned to a team you can request to join another user’s team. Once you have been accepted and placed on a user-created team, as long as that team is above the minimum team size, you will be able to play in the tournament.
Minimum Team Size
Players who have created their own team must be conscious of what the minimum team size for the tournament is. For all tournaments the minimum team size is the size of each game, in the 4v4 Fireteam ClashTournament the minimum team size is 4 players. User-created teams failing to reach this minimum size by the end of the registration window will either be disbanded and the players on it will be assigned to the Autofill pool, or have players from the Autofill pool automatically assigned to the team to help reach the minimum requirements.
Autofill Feature
As stated above, all players that are registered for the tournament and do not join a team before registration closes will still have a chance to participate. Once the registration window is closed, if there are players registered for the tournament that are not on a user-created team, they will be assigned to the Autofill pool. If there is room in the tournament bracket for more teams than users have created, then Autofill teams will be created and players will automatically be assigned to these teams. Unfortunately for some, with the small size of the initial tournament all of the slots have been filled with user-created teams. Since there are not enough empty slots to accommodate all players, some will be removed from the tournament.
Overfill/Reserve Players
To prevent cases where some teams will be forced to play shorthanded, tournament teams have a overfill system. The maximum team size is always 2 players above what are actually allowed during each match, for example in a 4v4 tournament each team is allowed to have 6 players. This will lead to situations where not all members of the team are able to play in every match, but will hopefully limit situations where the number of players on each team is uneven.
