Hi. Have anyone mentioned this to Sony? Would there be a chance that it soon will be able to copy songs from disc to harddisc

Waste of time. Yes of course they weighed it up. The cost to create a Drm system to remember if a disc has been copied out ways the PR gained. The SALES cost is based on the artist fees per song. Without the DRM you would just have 1 singstar disk flying over the postal service to every singstar user. It's allready happens with game sharing of current BDs of SINGSTAR. They have bigger bugs to fix for this very old title.

I have a way around this. We should be able to register each disc that we have. Then the carosel would show a preview of each song from not only your songs on the hard drive, but also from all the songs on each registered disc. Once you select a song from a disc then the game would then ask you to insert the correct disc and away you go.

That way you won't forget about the songs you have on various discs. So for a party everyone can see what songs you have and not have to look at the back of boxes or on a spreadsheet. The DRM issue is out the window, because you would still need the disc.

Not an ideal solution as i would like to be able to put the songs on the hard drive, but a simple way for Sony to enable us to use the discs that we have paid for. I know that you can swap the disc with the select button, but you can't see all of the songs that you have on all of the discs.

Here's hoping this weeks update is better than last weeks.

Would it not be possible for Sony to get the tracks from the cd's copied to a tempory area each time singstar is started so that all the songs are there, but once the ps3 is switched off they are removed, hence removing the possibity for people to just copy the disc and send it on, but this would also allow every track to be loaded at the start of the session and then make it much simpler to see every song listing.

Seems like a simple idea to me, but something that could be very useful.

Yeah, we all appreciate that London Studios don’t want a scenario where a single disc can be passed from machine to machine, with the songs being copied each time.

However, I'm sure they could introduce a system where songs on a PS2 or PS3 disc are copied onto the harddrive, but are ‘locked’ once the Singstar game is exited. The next time Singstar is played, the ripped songs can only be ‘unlocked’ by inserting the relevant disc. It therefore wouldn’t matter if a disc was played on another machine - the songs would be subsequently unavailable unless you were in possession of the disc.

I certainly wouldn’t mind spending 5 mins inserting each of my discs before I start play if it meant all of the songs I've bought, whether downloaded or on disc, are available on the carousel simultaneously.

It would only be possible if EVERY single DVD and BD of the production line had a Individual verifictaion number at the time of production and if that info is digitaly stored on each disk as well. IF not it will be impossible to build a DRM system. Rumours off BD security said this was real but I Dont believe that they actualy did build it in to the BD production line. May be some knows if that's true.

I am willing to send all my purchased SingStar game discs to Sony or London Studios or whoever, if they will make them available for me to download on the SingStore.  I have around 10 discs and it's such a frustration to have to switch them all the time, because one person wants to sing a song on this disc and another on that disc.

Nah it's too far down the line now, they'll be concentrating on that Dance effort which seems to have hit the bargain bins already.

Would actually be really easy, just require a software update.

They know every song on every disc, just like the songs in the Store.

Simply add these to the carousel, and upon selection it calls for disc insertion or purchase from the store as current.

Simples.. of course it would only be worthwhile if anyone actually cared about ***** and keeping it alive and well.
