Have to patch every version of the game I have separately with a 40MB patch, even though they are the same patch + I also have to patch the viewer with 100MB update too.

Absolutely pathetic.

I avoid this by only ever booting off my newest disc then swapping discs to play the other songs.

Re: Patch 4.40 details and issues thread.

OK, apparently the patch didn't apply itself the first time. After running the update again, the 78k save file with player names, high scores etc was unlocked. Yay! (...and apologies for my previously (unintentionally) misleading post.)

Not yay, actually. I copied it to the portable HDD, transferred it into the PS3 with all my SingStar downloads on it now, replacing the existing file as we don't care about playing the game anymore with two years of records gone, ran the game, nothing. None of the stored names, none of the stored scores - just like a fresh install.

What's the point of unlocking the file if it's totally useless once unlocked???  :smileysad:

Re: Patch 4.40 details and issues thread.

After patching to Version 4.40 Singstar Crashes sometimes after acessing the XMB or ideling in the caroussel with a black screen. Changing to XMB with PS Button is still possible but very slow. When i exit singstar in XMB my PS3 doublebeeps and restarts. Never had that before 4.40.

Re: Patch 4.40 details and issues thread.

I just got singstar pop edition, and when i put it in, i updated to 4.40. I just keep having problems, the sound in the game works perfectly, but the audio playback is way off, and the video playback cuts out after a few seconds. Occasionally when i run the game, the microphone quality goes extrmemely bad and (excuse the term) goes very wobbley and sometimes robotic, if you understand how i mean that. I deleted the update data, and it worked completely fine.... reinstalled the update, and its not working. Really need this fixed as i want to good features, but it is unplayable at the moment....

Re: Patch 4.40 details and issues thread.

I lost all my data. One year of vids, audios and pics are gone. Thanks Sony! You never cease to amaze me. Singstar wouldn't start until I deleted the game data. I noticed it when wrong pictures were shown in my media gallery. Pictures that were part of other videos were put on the most recent ones. When I restarted (the PS3 crashed and rebooted with doublebeeps), Singstar would hang itself up. It worked again after I deleted my game data. :smileysad:

I feel you pain Bob. I upgraded from the old 60gb to a new slim and none of my SingStar data transfered over. I thought it might work since update 4.40 but obviously not.

One good thing is that the transfer data utility didn't remove the SingStar game data from the old machine, so at least I can still view it on there.

PS+ idea, let us backup all our Singstar songs from our discs (I have 8 myself) to our PS3 HDD, so we can have a more immersive experience.

After testing out the new SingStar PSP Remote play function, it seems very simple to use and effective, the one thing it seems to be missing if anything is the 20 second audible preview of  all the songs on your PSP, the same as when you choose songs on the PS3, this would be very helpful in assisting us to use this Remote Play feature when forming Playlists.

They won't even allow people to use purchased songs on more than one PS3 in the same house on the same account so it's highly unlikely that a facility to preview purchased media on a PSP would ever see the light of day. Same goes for copying disc based media. Both would be fantastic options especially the second one but it's been requested since day 1 and will never happen.

While I am not holding my breath for Sony to allow us to copy the songs off the disks to our hard drives (though Harmonix managed to agree a deal to allow this on both Rock Band I and Lego Rock Band, for a small fee, so it isn't exactly beyond the wit of man) it would be extraordinarily easy to provide an option to show the content of all the disks that the user owns on the carousel and ask the user to switch disks to play it.

This should definitely be optional, as many people won't want to be forced to swap disks when playing, and it should be clear which songs are on the disk in the drive, which have been downloaded and which are on another disk (maybe a simple icon, or a coloured highlight). This, coupled with the PSP Singstar viewer would take Singstar parties to a whole new level - people who aren't currently singing would be able to browse the entire selection of songs without having to sort through game inlays and could easily get the right disk ready for the song they want to sing next.

I just don't understand why this feature request keeps getting ignored. Apart from anything else, if it is made easier and a more pleasant experience to sing songs from multiple disks, it will encourage people to go out and buy more disks!
