Re: SSX 1st impressions

Wait til you get to the grudge match in the World Tour. Frustration turned up to 11 with that one.

Re: SSX 1st impressions

Only took me 3 goes on the final grudge match, just go all out in the beginning and all out in the darkness (There's a path that's practically a straight line in there) and take the rest slowly and he's easy to beat. Although I did knock griff off his board at one point

I spent over an hour trying to beat Griff on the final race, but he seems so unfairly fast at catching up when I get a good lead. Then when you come out of the darkness to those 2 or 3 ice shelf's he's gone. I lose by about 20 seconds every time and I am flat out as fast as you like :smileysad:

I left it for a few days to simmer down and tried the explore mode. Just as bad with some races and events being easy, others mighty impossible even getting bronze medals :smileysad:

Given up on this game anyway. It's too much for a gamer like me. I HATE BEING STRESSED OUT! :Shame:

Terribly designed and though out game. If I wanted a stressful trial & error game, I would go and buy Demon's/Dark Souls.

Re: SSX 1st impressions

Ytevo, I was thinking much the same thing while trying to get that last race done. It wasn't fun, and the difficulty seemed to be more down to inept design rather than considered design. Sulky though it sounds.

However! I got it done in the end, now I'm messing around with explore mode, competing with friends scores and generally having a great time! Taking the descents on your own terms rather than what the world tour dictates makes for a much better experience.

If you can stick it out a bit longer, it's worth the effort!

Spoiler
Rank Zoe up mate. Get her a better fast board. then give it another try. When you jump out of the heli at the start do a trick. When you lad you should have Tricky. BOOOST all the way to the cave bit. When you enter the cave always stay right. Seems to me its the safest route.  When you hit the Wingsuit bit, all i can say is be careful, go at your own pace. just dont be too slow. The avalanche bit is reasonably easy. Just boost boost boost, if you get caught in a slide, just jump out of it. Its a great game, dont let this race put you off.

Re: SSX 1st impressions

I've been ranking (don't read that the wrong way :smileyvery-happy:) Elise up <3 but I didn't think it mattered for Zoe as she's using a set board/suit combo no? I'm sure when I set her up with a speed board she has completely different gear on when she jumps out the helicopter like its pre meditated so you can't use the best gear?

I quite enjoyed the story mode as I do with most games. Its just the difficulty of the level design I'm not like so I might trade this and buy SSX 3 off the Store and just remember it for what it was.

Re: SSX 1st impressions

Im pretty sure she uses the best gear available. Though im not 100% as i completed the level without having to quit out of it :smileytongue:

And is SSX 3 on the store? I thought it was only On tour, which is crap!

Re: SSX 1st impressions

I cant remember, I just said the first game that came into my head lol. Its not that bad, not on the scale of this new reboot anyway and will still retain the fun aspects the games were popular for.

Re: SSX 1st impressions

Well game play is fun. Its trickier than what I thought and takes time to pull tricks and combos together some of the deadly decents are stupid but hey its practice. Find it better without the ssx music as its abit distracting and concerntrated more on the music than game play then wondered why I kept losing. Now with the music off, am flying through the world tour with ease and puliing massive combos off. The thing that annoys me is some of the trick it races, as it seems that even before you start the A.I has massed a 10000 point lead even before you have started and constantly seems to be in tricky mode in some races. As for the courses you need 2-3 attempts on them as there are so many ways down not just one. I am dissapointed it has no free play mode to practice tricks, steering etc before you attempt the world tour. The explore section interesting but I see no difference from the world tour as again its race trick it or the deadly. as for online play tried it once and came third in a trick it race, just 4 days after buying the game. if people are going to think that this game will be a walk in the park to complete, forget it, it is tricky and not that easy. OH one thing to the makers of this....I think its taking the pee you want players to pay for points from the ps3 store. I dont think any of us are that sad really as practice makes perfect and you can collect points all the way
