Re: The Official 2011 Formula One Thread

The 2 biggest suprises for me out of the first races was the step forward Sauber and Toro Rosso made!!!

The grip of the sauber in corners was absolutely amazing, that car will be suprisingly competitive at some races down the track, monaco and hungry come to mind.

Re: The Official 2011 Formula One Thread

if vettel wasnt in a class of his own this season would be really amazing

also very annoyed at ONE HD again, they once again cut the press conference short, they skipped vettel's final question

Re: The Official 2011 Formula One Thread

Vettel smash part 2, it is what happens when you get a good driver in a good car with good reliability.  It is unfortunate that RBR still haven't got KERS working correctly otherwise Webber would be alot further up the food chain as well.

I love the fact Sauber is doin so well in the first 2 races & the amount of hang time they get...

I really like the fact the tyres are degrading so quickly to keep strategy in play and if you dont keep them in good nick, (you have to be more smooth than smooth, you have to be smoothly smooth to keep the tyres smooth) you will be in the pits more than you wanna be.

Re: The Official 2011 Formula One Thread

Incredible race, so many drivers put in great performances. It's hard to tell whether that's down to the tyres equalising the cars to a certain extent or just lots of people being on form on the day. It was really good to see Massa put in a good performance as well, was getting kind of worried for his future at Ferrari.

I do think that some of this variability in the races will change once teams get used to new strategies however. Once people start saving more fresh tyres from qualifying and planning a 3 stop strategy from the outset rather than switching during the race the races should become a little more predictable. They'll still be exciting but I think you'll have a better idea of where people might finish during the race instead of just in the final 3 laps.
