There IS ways out of every situation, and also ways of stop them happening them happening. I've said befor and I'll say it again TEAMWORK!!!!! Screw your kdr screw your leader board position! If just a hand full of people just defend the base well then you can't get base raped, the maps are massive, stop them getting to those points were they can hide and wreck your base? wait in ambush? Sniper towers next to a bike coral and fully armed bunker with 3-5 people holding it down is a hard nut to crack. People will eventually employ tactics like this, the games just come out, everyone moaning is probably mainly getting owned by beta vets ( me included. ) building stuff before you leave your pod is a damn good idea never thought of that, nice one:smileyhappy:

Hands up all those who remember games where you couldn't even save your progress and had to start from the very beginning every time you played?

Man what a terrible design decision that was! Could you imagine the amount of whinging that would result these days if that was still the case?

Believe me I've slated lightbox. I hated the beta. And I was vocal about it

I just believe in trying harder. Not sitting whinging comparing one game to another.

Saber You sound like a chap who wants everything given to him on a plate instead of working towards it.

I've heard that the single player and co-op are good :smileyhappy:

so thats 2/3rds of the game are good. Thats quite good these days.

Single player amounts to being in a zone and building some stuff to fend off spawning enemies.

Co op will be reasonably fun with a friend.

Multiplayer is a hideous unbalanced mess with the entire enemy player base in your spawn tanking you as you leave your pod and cluster bombing your base as you break out of your pod :smileyvery-happy:

Unfortunately I won't get to play co op as I'm not allowing my friends to spend their money on it

well at least in dying quick means you can't build your own hawks, tanks, jeeps, for the other team to steal and use against.


*daydreams back to the good old days of being raped by 2 under the map dropships, 8 hawks that would actually queue in a line to Tow or Cluster Bomb you in the base, and a scattering of tanks and jeeps circling around inside the base*

I was going to buy this today but after reading on here and various other sites about it I think I will save my money.

 

Had my fingers burnt to many times over games that were considered "awesome" only to find I end up trading it in.

Sell the game then and get off the forum and stop moaning! 2 people have tried to give you advice and you are still all "waahhh waahhh the big bad tank made me owwwy" and I bet if you were the one racking the kills up you wouldn't crying like a baby. Man up and try harder!

If other people can base pound then it stands to reason then half the time you will be on team that can reach a point of being able to base pound (unless you are a massive liability). If they can do it to you, then you can do it to them.

I haven't played the full Starhawk game yet, but in Warhawk people could pound bases and Warhawk was excellent. You could enter the enemy base in Warhawk so to claim that ability is a design flaw - when it has already been a feature of a very good game - is wrong.

I played the beta of Starhawk and although it was possible for one side to harass their enemy's base, that was far from being an intractable problem (although admittedly there were no tanks). Sometimes an unfortunately bad set of players was up against a fortunate set of good ones and was being hammered - but that's the way it sometimes goes. In most modes it is not a matter of being a well functioning team to resist calamity?

It was also the case in Warhawk being a new player generally meant dying a lot. It was a question of learning the techniques and patterns of the game.

 

If base pounding in Starhawk really is a problem - does this happen in all modes? In zones is nobody busy going around the map trying to capture them?
