Re: Anyone know of the legitimate design decision for this shambles?

Depends who you talk to.
If you speak to someone who played Warhawk (I mean actually played it, putting in several hundred hours) then Starhawk is a true sequel, similar enough to have the old Warhawk feel but different enough to be new and fresh.
If you speak to someone that thinks that developers owe them a free lunch and a game that they get everything given to them without working for it, then it's a horribly broken unbalanced pig of a game that is to be whined about.

Personally, I love it. :smileyhappy:

It may have the feel of the old Warhawk with the ability to fly & the old faithful modes of Zones,CTF,DM.. but I feel its got a long way to go yet!!!!

IMO the Hawks weapons need upgrading when in flight as they feel weak compared to the weapons we had before....

The swarm & homing missiles just seem ineffectual at times with the canned dodgers,,

The Flaks a nice new piece of hardware which might be about right.

But the Cluster bomb is most definatly a little overpowered..

The Mech when in Mech mode is vastly overpowered with its range of weapons like a hovering Hawk in Warhawk......

Thats IMO & yes I did play 100's of hrs....

Another thing about base pounding - is nobody setting up defense domes? That was the way in the beta to stop the enemy shooting up the heart of your base. As the battle matured your base would get staked out if you didn't have a defense dome (or whatever it's called).

Re: Anyone know of the legitimate design decision for this shambles?

It's seems to be less of a problem in ZONES, still happens but unless you are being thrashed its easily to get out of a raping. I think the legitimate design decision is that you are supposed to be defending said spawn point, soooo if ya not defending then what do you expect. There is that word that keeps cropping up, TEAM WORK !!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone know of the legitimate design decision for this shambles?

Bit surprised people that played Warhawk are complaining about people coming into your spawn.

It was a given in Warhawk that people would be in your spawn....... spaming grenades and tank rounds at you.

Yes the baseraping in SH is pretty bad and there are less places to hide but in comparison to WH these are nothing. I can kill spawn campers (inside the very large spawn area) with just my ability to spawn. You didn't have that in WH. You can control where you will spawn in SH (again in the spawn area) and drift out of it. That wasn't available in WH.
There is also a degree of spawn protection as you can delay your exit from the pod and get your B&B stuff ready.
This isn't taking into account the squad leader (spawn ability).

So far i've played 20 MP games - 15 wins, 3 draws and 2 loses. Out of those two loses only one was a "base rape" for all intents & purposes and it was not anything near a WH base rape.

Personally i'd like to tweek CTF by add some permanent bases to encourage people to leave the H/B more but with what people are complaining about here that idea would actually encourage baseraping.

I find it slightly ironic that it is possible that the way that LBI has designed CTF could be to prevent baserapes because as soon as I seen an enemy spawn point I destroy that before anything else. If you or no one on your team doesn't do that then you might as well replace them with a yoghurt. No forward spawn point means great distance to travel to baserape the enemy

I don't have any problems with TDM or Zones. Not played DM yet but it surely does exactly what it says on the tin. LOL

Ahhh! But shika how many of your wins were from base rapes? 😜

But in all seriousness I don't get what all the moaning is about, if you defend properly it shouldn't happen and if the other team are just better than you then well that a game innit!

Re: Anyone know of the legitimate design decision for this shambles?

the problem you have is that most games/servers I go in are already one sided and one team is full of high level Warhawk veterans normally.

Why is this you ask?

Because people quit, and those that played Warhawk know how to play well with hawks. You have limitless spawns of hawks/tanks that sniper. its becoming a joke that you can't build anything without it being taken out instantly by the stupid cluster bombs or sniping tanks.

Yes the team should defend the base better, but when you have a lot of new people buying Starhawk that never played Warhawk they will not be as good. So people start switching teams and its too one sided.

The game needs some major balancing sorted. Level limits so that newbies aren't playing against veterans etc...until this happens the game is slowly going to die.

But how do you work out who is a warhark vet and who isn't until the XP builds up?

Re: Anyone know of the legitimate design decision for this shambles?

by what level they are on and if they are in clans normally gives it away. Those on level 1-10 are being base raped by those on level 33 and above and all in a clan. It sort of tells its own story.

I'm not joking but last night every game I went in, this was the same case. I stayed on the losing team but boy is it boring.
