Feedback on the full game

So there was a lot of feedback on the BETA but i haven't seen much on the full game. LBI are constantly working on updates so there's still time to tweak things a little. What do you think needs changing? Or is there anything you would add? I think the game is stunning and it's improved a lot in terms of balancing after the updates, but if i was to point out some little things it would be these:

 

 

PROXIMITY MINES.

These never used to be an issue, maybe because people didn't realise where they were on each map? I don't know. But more and more people are spamming these and it's really easy to get kills with them. The fact that you pick up 3 means you can throw 3 of these anywhere and you're almost guaranteed 3 kills. It's so frustrating when an enemy speeds by on a sidewinder with one of these attached, and all of a sudden it jumps a few metres and attaches itself to you. Numerous occasions i've been on a sidewinder myself, and i jump off and run immediately, but it still kills me when it was nowhere near me. It's got to the point where people camp on the spawn location of the mines and make it their #1 priority in games, which annoys me. People even sitting on top of them in a tank or a hawk waiting to get them, which is quite pathetic really.

How to fix it? Maybe the pickup needs to be reduced to 1 instead of 3. Or blast radius reduced/dont attach to people.

 

 


 

TANKS RUNNING YOU OVER WITHOUT DRIVING.

Sometimes i use the bruiser skill and when i don't have an RPG handy, i do my best to get right up to a tank to knife it. But the annoying thing is, when i do manage to get there, and i try to knife the side of the tank, i am somehow run over and killed, when it didn't move. The slight turning somehow kills me even though it barely moved. Personally i think tanks are powerful enough without this.

 

 

 

 

KNIFING SYSTEM.

I don't really understand it, because #1 i'm always getting killed by the enemy grabbing me when i clearly got them first and #2 a lot of the time it doesn't grab the enemy even when i have all the time in the world, and just slashes him, allowing him to get away/kill me with one hit.

 

 

 

 

GROUND HAWKS.

The more i play the game the more i wish hawks were more like warhawk and not able to transform into ground hawks. At first i thought it was an awesome idea, and it still is really, they look awesome, but i think they've become the #1 match killers. Don't really think they're balanced at all and they spoil most games. Sometimes they're easy enough to kill, but a lot of the time an enemy lands with a shield activated, kills you by stomping nowhere near you which is so frustrating, and flys off within a blink of an eye. I like hawks in a game because they change the whole strategy of the match, you have to prepare different tactics against aircraft and it means less ground troops and more air combat, but the more i play Starhawk, the more Ground Pounder games i strictly play. I just find these to be the best games because hawks make it too easy.

How to fix? Balance issues could be sorted, but personally i would love an option to have 'flight only' hawks in a match without the ability to transform.


 

 

SHIELDS.  I don't know what can be done about them, but they just encourage camping so much, more so on certain maps. Really dislike them. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if you were able to gradually destroy the structure of the shield from the outside, don't see why not.  But they're too powerful on large maps like Dust, where people sit inside them in tanks, which means you have to get inside it yourself to take it out. Which leads us back to my previous point, because usually i do well to get there but somehow get run over sideways by the tank.

 

 

 

As for additions, i cant wait to have custom music, that's something i absolutely loved about warhawk. I made quite a dramatic sounding instrumental playlist mixed with some awesome rock stuff :Cool:

 

 

And one small mention to the marketing of the game here in the UK. What the hell? If i wasn't anticipating this game because of warhawk, i doubt i would even know anything about it. Not seen anything about it anywhere, and i was only able to find a few copies on a small shelf when i got it on release day. In my opinion this is the best game available right now, and easily one of my favourite games ever, it's a shame it isn't that popular here.

At times its only the fact that Sidewinder riders can pickup 3 mines that keeps the other team a little more honest than they would be!!

Only have it as a single 1 mine pick up how do you stop the mass tank attack you see in some of these games?

The wheels swivel so your probably getting killed be the movement of the wheels..

"Bruiser" really over powered & over used its a game killer & should be got rid of..

 I dont know, but it's so annoying how many people just throw a mine on a sidewinder and drive around like an idiot. So cheap .At least change the fact that they magically attach to you and reduce blast radius or something. Or even add mines purely to stop vehicles.

Disagree with it being a game breaker. It takes a fair bit of skill to destroy stuff, considering you're always open to fire. You have to plan it correctly if you want to suceed. Plus, it's the best solution to the shields, as i'll mention later.  If anything, just make it harder to destroy stuff.

I did, because i had hit markers. It takes 2 slashes to kill someone, yes? Sometimes an enemy  is completely still, i knife but instead it slashes him, obviously then he's going to move.

Agreed. Fair enough not being able to hit whatever's inside the shield, but you should be able to destroy the shield from the outside. This is the main reason i actually use the bruiser skill, because you have to get in there and destroy the core. I see it as a skill to aid your team, because it helps you take out mini bases and whatnot.

So am I!!!

When the Hawk transforms into Mech mode if you disable the ability for it to use its shield or its stealth once its on the ground then its a more even playing field...

Without the shield or stealth in there ground role you wont get as many of the chancers landing as there be too scared of ruining there KDR so solving the problem of overpowered killing machines..

You will still get the players that will take a chance & land but not every Tom ***** & Harry will be beating up the home base..

 

The last bit about the locking on when in Mech mode was just an after thought!!!

Too many times we see Hawks just sitting high up waiting to lock up the enemy as they take off!!

Or they dive to the ground land & send a homer at you as you over fly them its a cheap trick & should be addressed..

Bruiser is broken, plain and simple. 2-hitting Tanks with a Knife that seems to have several metre range is just silly.

Grounded Hawks are far less mobile and much easier to hit, I don't see why they need to be neutered any more, other than perhaps the shield and invisibility.

Shields don't present too much of a problem. I find they are a greater problem when Hawks arent around, because Tanks are stopped dead by a shield and a couple of turrets. Bruiser isnt the solution, simply cruise up in a bike and wreak havok. Anybody tries to stop you then just spam a few frags and carry on swinging.
I always simply outflank the shield, roll in with a Tank's artillery and shoot it dead on, and its dead along with anything around it.

Not really - it would be too hard to take them out purely with nades/RPG if you're in its sights. Say, if the tank is in a shield and you have to get in there to take it out. Takes too damn long to reload, no chance you'd get 3 hits in without dying first. Knife isnt a metre range at all - in fact i raged twice tonight after i apparently 'missed' the tank with my 2nd swing, when i was practically standing in it.

Which are the main problems im talking about. Sick of invisible hawks stomping on me from 20 yards away! Most of the time you dont have a hope in hell because of their stealth/shields. This means you cant damage them.......Get anywhere near them to knife and they'll stomp too.

re; arriving and wrecking havoc, as i said earlier, reloading takes a while and with only 8 rockets, you're not going to get very far destroying their mini fortress unless you get into a supply bunker if  they have one.
re; flanking with a tank - this is quite hard on a map like Dust, because a) it takes years to travel there b) its hard to travel there because of how open the map is, any beam turrets and you're gone and c) they usually see you coming a mile off because its so open. Which is why i aid my team immensely by arriving on a jetbike and wrecking their ***** with a knife. It's hard enough doing that tbh with people and turrets and tanks around, never mind trying to destroy it with tanks or rpgs

This is what I would do with Bruiser:

 

1. Improve the Welding Torch's attack power against vehicles by 15%

 

Infantry need the ability to defend against vehicles at close range but I very much feel that you should have to equip the appropiate tool first rather than having an easy option of spamming R3. The Welding Torch currently does it's damage at quite a slow rate but giving it a bit of extra oomph would make it a viable anti-vehicle weapon.

 

2. Reduce the requirements for unlocking the Engineer skill

 

You have to use 1000 units of Welding Torch ammo in a round to unlock Engineer. This makes it a pain to unlock, particularly if you favour playing shorter games. Reduce the requirement to 750 units of ammo.

 

3. Remove the Bruiser skill entirely

 

Once the Welding Torch has slightly more power, Bruiser will be unnecessary.

 

4. Remove the Field Mechanic skill entirely

 

The ability to repair vehicles is important but, again, you should have to equip the Welding Torch to do it. Once Engineer is quicker to unlock, Field Mechanic will be unnecessary.

I agree that the Shield and Cloak should be removed when Hawks are in Mech form, but if you've learnt that the stomp is a powerful weapon why are you running in to take them on at close range?

 

Create some distance between yourself and the Mech and keep moving whilst throwing grenades and firing your rifle. Mechs can be dealt with fairly quickly if you adopt the right tactics.

 

Also, infantry need to work together. If your enemy has 20 foot tall Mechs and heavily armoured tanks then it's essential that vulnerable foot soldiers work as a consolidated fighting unit rather than individual, isolated Rambos.

Yes they are easy to hit..

But why your swooping down & giving it max with the MG your getting locked up with either swarms or a homer missiles..

Its a little one sided....

As you cant lock up Mech's from the air..
