So what you're saying is the game is decided by whoever gets to spawn-camp the others. Once that has happened, everyone on the trapped team should just quit. Which means every game I join, I either have 3 minutes until I get spawn-killed and then I quit, or I have 3 minutes until my team gets to spawn kill the enemy and then they quit and we either ahve no-one to fight, or random new players arriving, getting killed, and quitting.

Is that really your idea of a fun game? Being either in the dominated or dominating side, with no actual competition or variation or close fights?

That's how I played Warhawk. When I was on the team that had the enemy penned in, I'd give them a break. I'd refuse the sniper kill or bhomb etc. to give them some fun. Because this is a *game* about having *fun*, for everyone involved. Those sorts of people who think online gaming should be about dominance and crushing your opposition and anyone who doesn't like that is a wuss really get my goat. They're entitled to their ideas, but please go play them in your own games with like-minded players, and leave those of us who want balanced fun in a game alone to our 'wussy ways'.

I havent played StarHawk yet ( i might pick it up not sure yet) but spawn camping is the same in all games.

The thing is if i get on a team that is spawn camping then i normally back off but where does that get me. I hang around the middle of he map with a few other decent players not being able to shoot anyone so eventually you end up either leaving or drifting back to their base.

I think Devs need to have a long think about what they can do about this. How about a vote system so if the whole team vote they are getting spawn camped then a nuke takes everyone out around their base so they can have a fighting chance?

Something needs to be done in general.....

Well said shifty 👏👏👏👏👏👏 that is the problem with most online games, people not playing the game but just playing there own game. kill kill kill and kill some more until it ends then boast at how good they are at the game...... Well done those people for ruining everyone else's time 👎👎👎👎 idiots the lot of them. But it has to be said that the are the ones that disappear the quickest so with any luck it will happen he and we can all skip through the stars and rocky out crops hand in hand blowing rach other up with balanced tanks and nerfed hawks..... Fingers crossed.

It is indeed how all online games are, and why I think many gamers stay away. It's a culture that's grown up around these early ideas, that the developers are used to, and that they keep repeating. That's why we get some of the responses that we've seen on these boards - "That's just the way it is. Stop whining." Just because that's the way it isn't, doesn't mean it couldn't or shouldn't be better.

Of the few online games I do play, I do try to encourage the devs to be more considerate to a wider range of gamers. By all means let those who like total dominance to have their games, but also allow those who want a balanced experience with like-able players to have their games. However, the entrenched hardcore gamers are always very resistant. During the beta I suggested a bonus for defenders who stick out a whole game on the losing side, as that's a valiant behaviour worth recognising, and was readily shouted down by those who think life is all about winners and losers and who have no concept of fun and enjoyment irrespective of winning/losing. The sort of people who'll swear if you headshot them in a game, whereas I'm more likely to congratulate my enemy on a good shot.

TBH I have no hopes of this ever changing. Every game repeats the same mistakes. Thus I prefer to play coop with known friends, and I expect every online game to be a merciless slaughter to begin with as I struggle to learn the maps and gameplay, and then utterly boring when you're either on the totally dominated or dominating side. the SH Beta worked well for me, but my faith was misplaced. Looking forwards to Borderlands 2!!

Doesn't matter if the game is COD, BF, SH or whatever game gets released. The people that ulimately kill it are the gamers by not playing fair and using stupid tactics.

One round where I was on the team dominating I jumped out of my tank to give them more of a chance. No-one else did. Ended up switching team as watching people getting picked off as they spawned was boring. I died a lot.

A patch is coming next week to address some of these issues. See if you like it better after that before considering selling...

...it really is a great game once you start being able to compete
