How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

OK boys and girls, "toys" and "pram" come to mind when reading the first page of this board at the moment - so let's collaborate on something useful!

I want to start a series of hints, tips and really, really bad ideas for all the vehicles in Starhawk. The end result being that we develop a complete player's guide to using vehicles in the game.

This thread is all about the OX Heavy Tank:

Isn't she lovely?

Here's how the thread works...

  1. Got a pro tip for using this 6 wheeled death machine which will help readers rack up the frags like a boss? Post it in green.

  2. Had a woeful experience in this lumbering hunk of slowness that should be shared with the world so that they don't recreate your blundering error? Post it in red.

  3. Got a question about the OX for some of the more experienced players? Post it in black.

Simple!

Try to stick to 1 DO and 1 DONT per post so that others get a chance to contribute. Once this thread dies out, we'll move on to our next vehicle... the Sidewinder!

Over to you...

great thread Muster, want this thread dead so we can have one for Hawk mastery :manfrustrated:

DO master the left-right weapon selection, the catapult weapon is amazing, allowing safe destruction from behind cover or out of line of sight (on fracture zones I massacred enemy buildings from a higher vantage, couldnt see a thing but bye bye beam turrets etc. anywayz

DO NOT spawn an OX tank garage where it cannot be defended, cos it cost mucho rift and needs to be used, not left to get all dusty.

Re: How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

Green: Combine the Ox tank with the field mechanic skill and you will survive a TON of abuse.

Red: When firing the mortar cannon aim for the ground directly in front of you while it is reloading, as the enemy can see your impact guide lines. Not aiming at the ground gives your position away to the enemy while you are waiting for the cannon to reload.

Green: The passengers passive skills will also transfer to you and your tank. For example if the passenger is using the skull that stops them coming up on radar, you and your tank will also be hidden. Also works with the one that blocks turret fire.

Always fire booth rounds or reload. Never roll with just one round ready.

Re: How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

Green: To defend against mine laden sidewinders, simply lay a mine of your own on the back of your tank. Nothing like giving them a taste of their own medicine.

Re: How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

Green: To get a slight boost to your movement speed, fire the turret behind you. The recoil propells you forward. Use the radar to see the, path ahead. Use with caution.

Re: How to kick butt in Starhawk: OX Heavy Tank

Green: If under sniper fire, drive in reverse, so that you can't be shot at from inside the tank.

Sorry about the lack of green... My mobile browser doesn't support the colour thing. If anyone knows the html code I can edit it?

Great tips you're posting, Hogezz.

I'm very ***** about having 2 rounds at any given time and will often let of a round just to get my 2 again.

I didn't realise that you could reload in a vehcle.  Which button is it?
