How to kick butt in Starhawk: The Sidewinder
I want to start a series of hints, tips and really, really bad ideas for all the vehicles in Starhawk. The end result being that we develop a complete player's guide to using vehicles in the game.
Our first thread, covering the fearsome Ox Heavy Tank, did really well and we got some fantastic do's and don'ts for kicking some serious derriere in the lumbering behemoth. Loads of you found it useful, so let's move on to our next vehicle... the Sidewinder!

Isn't she a beasty?
Here's how the thread works...
Simple!
If you're using your mobile phone to contribute to this thread, use the following HTML coding to change the colour of your text (remember, use the American spelling of "color" for HTML purposes):
<font color="red">YOUR TEXT HERE</font> <font color="green">YOUR TEXT HERE</font>
If you're using a normal browser, just use the rich text editor options at the top of the screen. Highlight your text, then select a colour by clicking on the A.
Try to stick to 1 DO and 1 DONT per post so that others get a chance to contribute. Once this thread dies out, we'll move on to our next vehicle... the Razorback!
Over to you...

Gonna get in here with this one before anyone else does....
DO learn where the proximity mines are on every... single... map. They are the Sidewinder's best friend. Whether you are mining enemy gates, Launch Pads, Supply Bunkers or even your own flag - the R-Sec Proximity Mines and the Sidewinder are a match made in heaven.
DONT strap mines to your Sidewinder in a Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch. Whilst you may occasionally come across a fully loaded Razorback, most of the time you'll end up running into a single enemy and will actually lose points for you/your team if you manage to blow yourself up (which will be ALL OF THE TIME). Save this tactic for Zones and CTF only.

Make sure you press X to vault over the far left or right of walls so you can go straight into the enemy base!
DON'T attempt to shoot at someone that is moving or on another sidewinder whilst you're using one! You'll only end up stopping!
- I have mentioned a few times about a Red Dead system where your horse (or in this case, bike) can be controlled with the left stick and accelerate/brake while you shoot!

To expand on that; Don't try and road kill an enemy whilst you have proximity mines strapped to your Sidewinder. You'll squish the enemy but the mines will still detonate, killing you in the process.
To reload whilst on a Sidewinder hold L1 whilst pressing square. Pressing square when not aiming will cause you to dismount the vehicle.

In CTF, equip the Turret Jammer skill and chuckle to yourself as you weave through a maze of impotent turrets, grab the flag and race away to glory.

DO check the map before you cross the map on a sidewinder and find the safest routes, because you can't afford to go bumping into enemy tanks or beam turrets. It also helps because you can easily intercept enemies (inc. flag runners).
DO let the flag carrier have your sidewinder if they're on your team and without a vehicle. They need it more than you and you'll be serving your team well.
