Pod Solution To Fix Base Ravaging

Just a thought....but one way to sort out the problem of spawn killing and base ravaging might be to add a fixed machine gun to pods and allow players to stay inside them for up to one minute? It would give a butchered team a chance to collectively fight back from spawn.

Also, the bubble shield cost is too high, it should be down to around 4 so that a team can defend itself against 3 or 4 tanks firing artillery shells constantly. In the beta the tank cost was much higher than 2, I think it was 5 or 6 - maybe that needs to go back up to 6 so that we don't see so many tank rushes.

Maybe adding a skill to allow a longer stay in the pod with a gun would be a balanced approach? The pod can't move, so the only use would be on defence.

I suggested MG turrets on pods in the beta to stop base ravaging, although you'd have to balance it so that it's enough to push back hardware but not enough that a team can sit in pods all day defending. 10 or 20 seconds would be enough for a team to destroy all the hawks and tanks pestering them (except tanks can be artillery distance away).

Yeah, it's the timer that would sort out whether it's balanced or not.

Alternatively, hide the drop target so tanks and infantry don't know you're going to land on their head. The fact they can dodge you always makes the drop defense useless, and you open the pod to a shotgun in the face.

What if, in CTF, a bit of inspiration could be taken. Each team could have their main base with the flag, but also have two other zones were they can spawn, build stuff, which can't be taken like in zones. But to capture the flag you would still have to go back to your main base. This would stop people baseraping the main base cos they would know there are two other bases were the guys could be coming from. Even if one team spread out evenly among the bases to spawnkill them all, the whole team would be able to spawn at the main base, overwhelming the reduced amount of people that are baseraping, and with rift saved up before their constant deaths they would be able to set up heavy turrets to damage incoming Hawks from the other bases, etc etc. By doing this it would make it increasingly hard to spawn kill, and would persuade players to just go for the flag.

Dont forget people use bubble shield for defence and offence there is nothing stopping them from planting a bubble shield outside your base and camping in it.

Problem: the pod should be indestructible otherwise it would be an easy target anyway.
Second problem: indestructible pods with a machine gun on them would become "fixed controllable turrets" complicating things even more.

I said this in the other thread thread but I think it's useful to say it again here.
