Well I still haven't found a single online game, co-operative & competitive, that doesn't need teamwork (even Little Big Planet needs teamwork) BUT I can play with strangers in dozens of game without the need need of a mic.

Surely I won't ever get the same level of co-ordination and teamwork as if I had a mic but I can play and enjoy those games: I don't need a mic to enjoy Killzone 3, Uncharted, Portal 2, or Battlefield 3.
From what you say here basically a mic is indispensable to simply enjoy StarHawk...how can that be a good thing for everyone.

Yeah what Hogezz said! And that is the main problem. It is a team based game after all, if everyone goes and does the same thing or what the want ( not meaning to sound like I'm trying to tell people they can't have fun ) then it all falls apart... But if people pay attention to what other people are doing and help/ cover/ follow and above all play as a team then this game is alot more fun. I was in a game with a few peeps I met on here the other day all calling out what is needed, incoming attacks, and what was being placed and although we in the end lost is was not one sided at all and was an absolute blast. As soon as the balancing is sorted, people whi rely on it will drop off the radar and all left will have an amazing game to shoot each other in the face in

If nothings done about base raping then even playing with friends or using a mic with total strangers won't be enough when clans get going proper in this game. Clans will use one tactic to win and thats baseraping. I mean look at what randoms can do together, imagine when clans have a structure going.

I want you to use the more rift skill and wait at base til you have 10 rift and build a ox station. Hawk guys I want yous to use the skill thats stops unoccupied beam turrents from firing at you. Flag grabbers use the skill that stops you from showing up on radar. Defenders use he skill that slows down weapon overheat and adds more clips to your weapons rounds.

As for me, I won't use a mic because for some reason I can only swear down it while playing Starhawk lol.

Hhahahahhaa yeah my vocabulary has Blossomed over the past few days you are spot on there is know real need for head sets as long as people do pay attention and play as a team, but I certainly helps. It's the same as killzone 3.... Do your job and you win, you don't need a mic for that but it helps.

Give it a week or 2 before selling and see what the upcoming patch does. What ever trade in value you get now will be the same in 1 month. I traded in REORC last week and got 29 euros for it. My friend traded in REORC  1 week after release and got the exact same as me, 29 euros. HMV give great trade in prices.

From what I heard Dylan Jobe on twitter has confirmed cluster bombs, tanks and a few other weapons will be nerfed and outposts will cost less to build so hopefully that puts a stop to Spawnraping for now.
