Just an Update here:
The error code 80029564 which appears while attempting to download a game patch is an indicator that there has been a connection issue to the server during the download attempt. The reason for this may be down to a number of factors.
Some Virgin Media consumers were experiencing this issue, however this was subsequently identified and fixed by Virgin prior to Christmas '12. So the if the issue is still persisting there are other reasons this may be the case.
As the error code is only an indicator of the connection there are several troubleshooting suggestions that can be tried.

just to let you know, the firmware upgrade Virgin pushed out has not resolved this issue for a lot of users.
We are still constantly experiencing the corrupt download error. Its getting quite rediculous now as I and many others have paid a psn+ subscription and pay monthly for an internet service that is rubbish.
This issue has nothing whatsoever to do with Sony or Playstation Network. Virgin say they are working alongside Sony with this, but I would say they are doing nothing of the sort.

You *****ing Legend!!!!!! IT WORKED!!! EVERYONE do what he says, disbale you firewall setting!!! or change you setting to allow all data to go through while downloading updates, I tried everything, I was ready to give up but thanks to you it worked, thanks so much

It doesn't work for everyone. I've been getting this error for over a month now and I'm at wits end with it. I've tried disabling my firewall/media server, putting my PS3 in DMZ, router firmware update, restarting router and modem, quick/full reformat of my hdd, swapping my hdd, port forwarding, literally every trick in the book and Sony's troubleshooting guide. I still get very sporadic successful installs. Unfortunately I don't have a different ISP I can try since there's only one provider in my area. The real pain in my ass? It started the day I joined Plus.

i Suggest someone at Sony get in contact with Virgin because they just dont listen to what the customer is saying. Its been months now and theres no improvent at all. This has probably effected thousends of Playstation users. I dont think Sony know how much this is effecting people. I wont buy anything from the store becase it wont install, theres people on PS+ just wasting thier subscriptions away. It just seems to work when it wants.
