What is telling the IP address has timed out? The PS3?
When does it tell you this?
Are you using a wired or wireless connection to your router?
You might need to reset your router to defaults and start again, then on the PS3 go through the network setup again.
just recently every time i go to use my ps3 it has stopped singning me in automaticaly,
and when I check the internet settings it's constantly failing to obtain my ip address.
so every time I want to use my ps I am always having to switch off my wireless router and switch it back on again. then my ps3 works fine, anybody know why please?
Why is a bit of a mystery but you could try logging into your router and giving the PS3 a fixed IP address. What brand of router is it?
iv tryed all the trouble shooting ' thats been no help. iv been on the phone today to my internet provider. VIRGIN need i say more ' they were no help - whenever i boot-up my ps3 it signs in to psn automatically' well it did till last night ' now it wont sign in. trust me i have done everything i can possibly think of & nothing is solving it... yet my vita is working fine. i hope someone can help. thanks guys
In Australia Virgin only do mobile "broadband" so you will have trouble getting onto PSN in the first place.
Mobile broadband is not officially supported by Sony Playstation.
Some ISP supplied mobile broadband routers only allow 5 wireless devices to connect at a time.
What brand and model is your router?
If Virgin is giving you neither very good support nor an acceptable Internet connection I would advise to change providers and preferably get an ADSL or better landline connection.
Might I suggest:
call your ISP and get the following information off them:
Primary DNS number
Secondary DNS number
and set your internet connection up manually

NZ: 09 415 2447
