i've had a ps3 for 7 months now and never had anytrouble except my blu-ray drive laser went a few weeks back, it's been fixed now and my dad has just bought a new ps3 slim 250gb console on the idea of us 2 playing cod4 together. since my dad has bought his ps i've had nothing but trouble with psn. i cant connect to my friends or play online. im not recieving messages from my friends and they cant recieve mine. there is nothing wrong with my internet connection the ps3 + my laptops and pc's all can connect to this network no problem. when i do a test psn is random if it succeed's or not but when my dads ps3 is turned of it connects fine. so it has to be something wrong with the psn that says 2 ps3's in the same household cant both be on at the same time!

i tried adding my dads account to my freinds i got the error code 8002a669. which everyone is denying is an error code and other players dont know what it means.

what is the problem because im seriously losing intrest in ps3's because 2 ps3's close to each other cant connect. and im considering buying an xbox 360 because i know that 2 xbox's can connect with no issues and xbox live doesnt have as many issues or needs as much mainternance as psn does!

If you've been trying to do this today then it's possible this is related to the other problems on PSN the last couple of days. I'm sure it'll work fine as soon as the rest of the problems are sorted.

right day 3 now! tried again today this time i can see my dad online and can also see what game he's playing. my messages are now fine and my other friends can talk and join online. althought on my dads new ps3 slim he cant see me online but he does recieve my messages and i recieve his what is going on. im pretty sure that the promblem should of been fixed by now

So is there actually no way to fix this?

i live with my friend and my ps3 is literally across the hall using wireless and his 1 is connected directly.
i can connect to my other friends that i dont live with fine, but me and him cant play together, it kicks one of us out of the match on black ops. 

if we're both online his Nat type is Moderate and mine is moderate or strict. which makes no sense, his should be open and mine moderate. 

im not technologically retarded or anythin, so if anyone can think of any way at all to fix this i'd really appreciate it.

It may be that the router is unable to cope with two connections to the PlayStation Network at the same time as the ports may be occupied by the other PS3.

This is unusual.  There is nothing about the design of the PlayStation 3 that would prevent 2 consoles connecting through 1 router.

It could be a limitation of the router.  A few suggestions would be changing the channel of the wireless signal.

You can also try a wired connection on both consoles to help fund the cause of the problem.

Hey SFZ, I have the problem on a BT Home Hub 2 Type A. For me it is indeed a limitation of the router as any action on each port is reserved to a single device per port for some ridiculous reason.

Hi strangeplaice, that is most likely the cause, it does sound like a conflect between the 2 consoles for the Internet access.

Ouzel-B-Strapped and manufc0 are your routers quite old?
