Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

Black ops freezes when i host, i have fast internet and so i often are chosen to host, if i join a game no problem until the host quits and then i become the host.

Reading somewhere that trading standards say we can get refunds on the game because it is glitchy and buggy, but that doesnt solve any ps3 issues does it?

Here is the article i came across:

Owners of buggy or glitchy video games are entitled to a full refund, Trading Standards has said on record.

Rules state that all goods should be of "satisfactory quality" it's said, which means (at launch at least) you should be entitled to your Black Ops PS3 and Fallout: New Vegas money back.

Speaking in a recent interview, Joint Lead Officer Sylvia Rook from the Trading Standards Institute said: "When consumers buy goods their rights are always against the retailer, so if there is a problem with a game, the consumer should return it to the retailer.

"The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) states that goods should be of satisfactory quality, fit for their purpose and as described. If the game is faulty, then the consumer should be entitled to a refund from the retailer (although it is not unreasonable for the retailer to return it to the manufacturer in order to ensure it is, indeed, faulty and it is not operator error, or a problem with the consumer's computer)."

Rook added that gamers wanting a refund should stop using the game immediately, otherwise they may only be entitled to claim for damages.

"If consumers wish to exert their statutory rights, they should stop using the game immediately as if they continue to use it they might lose the right to reject it and might then be entitled only to damages," Rook said.

"If the consumer wishes, they can also request a repair or replacement, but they don't have to accept this if they do not want to."

Treyarch put out another Black Ops PS3 patch earlier this week which hopefully sorted issues.

It hasn't .

It has lessened the number of times my PS3 freezes but it still happens.

The servers for the game are not good enough (as well as the coding of the game itself), if there are less than 500,000 playing the servers usually cope, anymore than .5 million and the servers fall to pieces.

Treyarch and Activision need to be investigated over their behaviour in this debacle .

Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

Guys I have had the problem for about a month or 2 now. It was fine for about a week, then my PS3 made a really loud sound like a vaccum cleaner or summin, or like it was scratching the disk, then one match... woosh game freezes. I turn of the ps3 w8 til next day try again worked.... freezes at the end of one match. So i try other games, such as MW2... disk not reading. So i take BO back to gamestation, and they say that it is cos i scratched the disk, so gave me a replacement. Took the new copy back same problem, they said its my ps3, my m8 who is gd with that stuff, says my ps3 is fine, and that the problem behind all of our ps3/BO problems is.....

BO is S**T coding. They didnt check the game b4 release, they just released it ASAP to try and make as much cash as posible. So im gunna write/email Treyarch and complain. Belive it or not, SONY is inoccent its not the blu ray readers its the GAME!!!! So give SONY a break and moan at Treyach, its their fault.

Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

[ Edited ]

Bought black ops 2 days ago. Yesterday my ps3 decided to freeze constantly while playing black ops. I turned off the machine in frustration and upon the next start, the ps3 was unable to read any disks.

There was a youtube link on page 3 of this thread:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZLiX4j2M3o

This did fix my problem, HOWEVER if you have not backed up your ps3, you will lose any saved data you had. I followed the steps in the video and restored my system via the PS3's hidden repair menu. A small price to pay for my ps3 actually working I guess.

Edit: It seemed my problem was purely software related. The only new addition to my system prior to the problem was, in fact, the black ops install and patch data. I can't speak for the rest of you, but my issue WAS NOT hardware related.

Sony have a part to play, they should be protecting their customers from cowboy outfits like Treyarch.

Once there were known issues with the game Sony should have initiated an investigation into the problem and then warned customers, they could also have considered legal action against Treyarch and Activision should they have been found culpable.

Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

Black ops broke mine, worked fine for 3 years then wouldn't stop crashing (when playing bops) then i got red light of death.

Cost me £130 for a refurbed ps3.

I've NEVER had problems with any game or software before with my ps3.

Activision, Treyarch and Sony to be honest need holding to account for this.

I will never buy a play station console again. Next gen, i'm Microsoft all the way. Sony have lost a valued customer.

Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

Black Ops online network is a complete joke! They are absolutely hopeless at hosting games and running servers! I have about 6 days game time clocked up and I must have been cut off well over 300 times now, ruining my killstreaks, kill-to-death ratio, ruining my earned score, freezing my computer and now it has completely broken my online gaming!

I will never buy Treyarch games again! They are a total joke of a company! They don't deserve to put their name on the game! I can't believe that they are too cheap to buy and run their own servers, causing all these disconnections and HUGE gaming problems. It is a complete insult that they are getting away with that, just to save themselves a few dollars and ruining the game for all who play online, which must be in the 10's of millions by now!

Oh and forum mods, this game is got +18's so there should be no kids in here anyway (Like Playstation actually give a ***** about that anyway......), so why does it bother you that we are posting angrily? You don't think we have a right to be p*ssed off that your network is breaking our Playstations, costing each and every one of us hundreds of Euros to fix and the last thing you guys would do would be to help us. All you do is ask us not to be annoyed.

This makes me laugh! Complete joke!!!

Re: BLACK OP'S broke MY PS3!! FURIOUS!!!! ANy one else???

Does anyone have any idea as to what can be done about the PROBLEM?

I am desperate, I have spent £200 on games for the PS3 for Xmas for my kids....I do not have anything left to repair a broken PS3. I have had no problems prior to Black Ops, which cost me £40...For the first two weeks, we were experiencing game freezes which had never happened before, these became more frequent until yesterday....now my kids PS3 is not recognising any discs. My son formatted the HD and lost all our downloaded PSN games....to no avail, same problem. I can't believe so many people can be experiencing the same problem and there is no answer?  As soon as someone knows how to fix this...PLEASE POST ANSWER A.S.A.P........I am currently doing a full format (18 hours). I got myself in to debt to get my kids all the games they wanted for Xmas and they are not able to play a single one! Somebody needs to answer for this! On the plus side, I guess I will be saving on Little Big Planet 2....no point in buying the game if your PS3 is FRIED!
