Re: Bandwith

A new router is always a good thing to play with :smileyhappy:

But it is obviously a fair bit of money, time and hassle to expend if you then find it hasn't helped... :smileysad:

Might even be worth checking for updated router firmware?

Re: Bandwith

Some routers will attempt to download their own file.
But some (most?) expect you to find it for yourself via searching the net on your pc and downloading it to your pc somewhere

You then point the router to that file on your pc :smileyhappy:

Re: Bandwith

I would google for "netgear DGN3500 firmware" for mine for example - obviously replacing "netgear dgn3500" with whatever make and model you have :smileyhappy:

make sure you download from a reputable site - by preference probably the manufacturer's own site - and make sure than when you follow the google result links that you look around on the site to see if there is a later version that google didn't spot :smileyhappy:

There may also be specific instructions to go with the firmware.
For example, some come with a note saying that all settings will be reset to factory - in which case you would need to make sure you had a note of your specific settings (ISP logon, password, any static IPs etc etc etc) before applying the firmware :smileyhappy:
sounds harder than it actually is :smileyhappy:
