Blinking red light, NOT the RLOD...What is it?

Hello everybody!

This may be a stupid question but after an hour of searching I've not found any info on this.

My PS3 seems to be working correctly except that there is a constantly flashing small red light in the bottom front left,  corner (lying flat) beside the USB posts. It flashes at a steady pace of around 2-3 blinks a second. All of the 'flashing red light' info I've been able to find relate to the red light on the power button which is not what I'm seeing. Can anyone enlighten me?

I'm only looking at this as a possible cause for all the lock-ups I get when playing Fallout 3 and Fallout: New vegas.

My PS3 is around 3 years old and if the 'fat' 40 gig model. I changed the had disk a couple of years ago for a larger one .

Thanks for any assistance!

Re: Blinking red light, NOT the RLOD...What is it?

is it to the right of the usb ports, under a picture of a cylinder?
if so - that's the HDD access light - shows disc access - but it should be yellow, not red.

there isn't any other light in that vicinity though...

Bah! I knew it was a stupid question. I've just discovered that the light is flashing on a USB dongle belonging to Guitar Hero...

Thanks TTDegs for making me take a closer look.
