Can't add funds to wallet error 80023102 or NP-2244-2

We have been having this problem on and off for a couple of months. I have done too much research and tried to get in contact with the local support (Sweden) to no avail. 

 

The problem is that it is impossible to add funds to the online wallet both during a purchase or as a separate action. The attempt is met with the "Can't add funds to wallet" or "Error 80023102". 

I know of the usual suggestions for solution of this problem, so to prove that the error isn't on our end here they are and debunked:

 

- We have tried with difference credit cards. Both cards have had the small test-charge gone through without a problem. So there is no adress or credit card detail problem.

 

- We have managed to buy content using both cards. The error is thus intermittent. It sometimes works, but most often not. AND this is without us changing anything. No network changes, no card detail changes. Nothing. It rarely works, but on some occasions it does.

 

- There are no connection problems. Online gaming is problem free, all other actions in the store or vs. PSN works well. We have tried connecting the PS3 with an ethernet cable directly to the cable modem = no router or firewall inbetween. This has no effect on the problem.

 

- The credit card company has investigated the issue and for all our attempts report that Sony has not attempted a charge. The transaction is aborted before it has even begun contacting a payment processor or bank. So it is not the case of our credit card company denying the charge.

 

All in all, I am 100% confident that this problem lies with Sony and I would like to see this resolved. I am a professional game developer by trade and my guess is that Sony has implemented some rigorous security system in the wake of the fiasco that led to accound and credit card details being stolen. This security system generates false positives and is apparently for some reason blocking our attempt to spend money with Sony.

 

Rest assured we will NOT purchase any additional Sony products this or the next generation unless this is responded to in a professional matter and resolved. If Sony doesn't want our money and denies our transactions then fine - we will take our business elsewhere.

Hi guys,

 

As you all know the error codes 80023102 and NP-2244-2 for the PS Vita are general codes to signify that the wallet funding has not taken place.  The reason that the funding failed will differ from user to user.  

 

As such the advice is to complete the below trouble shooting steps. 

 

  • Ensure the billing details entered on your Sony Entertainment Network account exactly match the details as they appear on your credit or debit card, including the cardholder’s name and the card expiry date

 

  • Make sure that the credit or debit card that you are using to add funds has been issued in the same country in which you have registered your Sony Network Entertainment account

 

  • Check with your card issuer to confirm that they have not blocked this payment to your network account wallet. 

 

If you have already completed the above steps without success, or you try them and have no luck then you will have to contact your local PlayStation Support for further assistance.  They will be able to investigate in further detail the specific reason that your transaction has failed.

 

Unfortunately due to the varying reasons for failed wallet funding there is no blanket solution to fix this for everyone and you will have query this on an individual basis.

I've tweeted Rabid Walker and emailed customer service as I no longer have any faith in them.

 

Feel like I'm being fobbed of at every possible opportunity. Will call Ofcom here in the UK and see what they advise me to do as this is no longer funny and the lack of knowledge and response is non-existent.

As you have tried everything suggested to get this working Enzyme, and theres still issues I will raise this with our Network Team. The error code is generally a non specific indicator so even though some may have the same code, it can mean something different.

 

Even so there appears to be a number of you guys having an issue so I will check this and get back to you.

I had high hopes for today when I saw the message that the store was undergoing maintenance. Just got in there and I STILL CAN'T ADD FUNDS. I'm going to give this a few more days and if nothing changes I'm going to pretend the PS Store does not exist. Shocking effort Sony.

Rabid, I've started to get this issue since I linked my Vita to my account if that is of any help and I can confirm this is the case with another 5 of my friends, who have had issues soon as they linked their Vita to their accounts. Coincidence, I don't think so.

Use your consumer rights and get a refund while you can. I haven't been able to add funds since september on my PS3 (I started the thread) and Sony has been of no help whatsoever. Appaling!

Foxxis, I will wait until after the 1st when there is a planned server maintenance, after that if there is no change in the service I will be calling Ofcom to see if I can take this further here in the UK.

 

I still feel I'm being fobbed of with the fact that this 80023102 error is a generic code to report some sort of problem. You would have thought that the software engineers would have set a code for all know issues and assign a new code when a new problems appears which they haven't encountered to make it easier in future

 

I'm extremely annoyed due to the way this has been handled and I'm shocked that they haven't resolved this issue for you and I'm now concerned this maybe the case for a large number of users on the PlayStation Network.

 

If you do a quick Google you can see that the errors have occured more since the launch date of the Vita in the EU. The NP-2244-2 on the Vita was reported here:

Also do a search on Twitter. I've tweeted this issue to Kotaku and hoping this raises some awareness. I don't know what else I can do apart from the actions I will take after the 1st if the problem is still there.

 

Just seen that users in the US are having sames issues, again more or less after the Vita release in the US, so we def are not the only one:

Also seen a French site has noted that people are experiencing the issues (80023102 and NP-2244-2 on Vitas) and are hoping the maintenance on Thursday may resolve the issue.

im having the same problem, so frustrating! i literally cant purchase anything from the psn store on my vita the NP-2244-2 message comes up if i try to purchase ANYTHING. i can only download demos. ***** is going on sony? you're  screwing  us and losing  a ****load of money at the same time!

You're not going to get any help on this issue what so ever. I'm sure moderators have the power to escalate issues further but they rather forget about it and carry on as if there is nothing happening.

 

To state the issue is solved is complete bs, as it hasn't. The guide copy and pasted to resolve the issue doesn't work and has been stated by users...this is not an end user issue this is a SONY ISSUE!

I too have this issue. I called a representative twice and have done everything they've suggessted. My credit card is fine, the addresses between accounts are fine, my router ports are fine.

 

This NP-2244-2 issue is very frustrating

mine stopped working going on 2 weeks ago, I'm trying to upgrade COD Elite, but keep getting the 8002 error message whenever I try to add funds.

 

Don't see why I should have to go out of my way to get PSN card when I've entered everything as it should be, and don't understand how the helpline doesn't seem to know much more than me!?

 

Fix the problem.

This is becoming a really bad joke now, I've just this second got off the phone from customer services for the third time. Below is a rough outline of my progress. First call You need to wait 24 hours as a security check has been put on your account. (this was without even asking for any of my details) Second call You need to wait another 48 hours as a security check has been put on your account. Third call You need to wait another 7 days as a security check has been put on your account. I'm scared to ring again as I dread to think how long it will be next time!!! This is such a shame as I'm loving my Vita but WANT TO DOWNLOAD SOME GAMES!!!!!!!

Same issue the NP-2244-2 error on my vita, and can't add funds via cards.

 

Guessing it's some retarded and remarkably broken security mechanism.

 

My psn account is attached to my vita, my vita is on my sofa, I created the psn account the same day I bought my vita and my games are only on my vita.

 

Neither of my cards work, so what I'm guessing is, broken security mechanism viewed buying 4 games in 4 days as odd and locked the account, this in turn resulted in said locked account winding up my bank with incomplete transactions, this in turn resulted in me having to fix that this morning.

 

Though I was able to pay off my credit card with my debit card (which POS network was unable to process) before my bank got irritated.

 

Anyway, sort out your network, roll on the hackers, too much like hard work trying to be honest.

Well update what's happening my end...emailed Sony, got a responses back which didn't start blaming my network and was promised that some would call me to see if they can solve it.

 

Call never materialised, again feel fobbed of. I'm 100% sure that Sony know they have an issue on there end are not saying anything, since last time the PlayStation network was in the news was due to hackers and even then they stayed quiet for two weeks only to announce later on "Sorry but we were compromised".

 

I don't want to put any fear in anyone and hopefully it's nothing more serious than a blip in there security backend...but history does repeat itself.

 

Rabid Walker any news from your end or are we all just venting frustrations at a brick wall as it sure seems like it.

Just noticed looking at my account via PC, and clicking on one of these "Missed Charges" I get the following info:

Charge not verified £0.00

But then on some I get:

Charge ****(****************) £0.00 (astricke used by me)

So there is no way this is an issue with my bank as I confirmed earlier in the week they have ruled it out on their end.
