Constant video display errors

My ps3 has had numerous video display problems.  The system will frequently freeze up and have to be restarted.  When I restart this, the video won't show.  I hold down the power button and reset the display settings, and it works again.  Then, 10 minutes later it will freeze and I will have to repeat the process.  Any ideas on what is happening?  I'm not about to get the YLoD am I?
