DS3 left analogue stick eating my pad! worthy for warranty return?

Hi all,

I bought a DS3 from Amazon in October last year and it has gradually started to eat itself, here's a pic (my camera's not great, sorry)

As you can see the stalk of the stick has become serrated and is eating away at the pads casing. After using for a couple of hours there's power all over the stick and around the casing. you can feel it rough when your using it too. my old sixaxis pads have markings on the sticks but nothing like this, and they are 2 years old.

Do you think that this is worthy of a warranty return? because apart from this the pad is fine.

Re: DS3 left analogue stick eating my pad! worthy for warranty return?

I've just checked mine, which is about 2 months old.

Where yours is worn, mine is too - but nothing like to that extent!
I have more of a 'shine' and looking closely, it has worn fractionally.

give it a go - you have nothing to loose except some time and an email or two :smileyhappy:

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..

Thanks for the reply, most likely will send it back, not sure what Amazon is like for returns but ill post how it goes.

Interesting to see if anyone else has had this much wear as well. I use it a lot cos my others and old and sticky (sixaxis) but never had one go this bad so soon, if at all.

Mine is worn like a pac-man mouth on the stick. No pics but pretty much like THIS diagram. | (
Compare it to the stick on R3 which is straight but this is after 3 years of use.

Still plenty of strength left in it and it WILL function as intended for a long time so I'm not sure it'll be warranty worthy. Think normal wear & tear.
They may however, just swap it to close the case & move on. Sometimes easier to keep people happy.

I'd imagine there'd be plenty of L3 sticks that have snapped off due to mass overuse by hardcore gamers.
