Dualshock 3 repair?

I've got a new Daulshock 3 which I only had just before Christmas and already the X button is feeling very spongey can it be repaired?

take it back if you have the receipt, it'll have 12 months warranty on it

 

whatever you do, don't take it apart, as they are a PITA to get back together, and i'm speakng from experience, people sell them on Ebay in bits because they couldn't get them back together
