I've already done the back up from my old PS3 onto an external HDD but im then trading in the old console for a new slim one. Once I get the new console can I just do a restore and all my game save, music etc will be put on the new PS3?

If I remember rightly all the games I've downloaded from the store will need to be downloaded again, is that right?

Also when I did the back up does that back up all the game data that's been installed and also map packs for some games?

Also before I trade it in I know I should deactivate my psn from the console but what should I do next? Do a complete system restore so there's nothing on there?

Yeah deactivate your account first and then do a full format or complete system restore to wipe off the accounts from the old PS3 system.

If you have copy protected saves they won't be restored to a different console.

If you have PS+ use the online storage, copy the saves to that and download to new machine after 24 hours.

If you don't currently have PS+, wait until the store is back and you get the free month.
