Original 40gb with 250gb installed.
This is a refurbished model.
Recently the console has been freezing or stalling before starting up. I click on my user to log in and its almost 1 out of 3 that the console will simply stall and refuse to load up the XMB icons. (sometimes it loads up some icons, while others are missing) Needless to say, I am stuck on this screen and the only option is to switch it off on the back stitch.
So rather than switching it off constantly, and adding further damage, I read that getting the System Restore options was the way to go. So I clicked on Restore File System and eventually I get to a screen saying
'Your Hard Disk is corrupted and will be restored'
So I think, great, now i'm gonna lose all my data. So I click OK and the progress bar begins to fill. It took roughly 30 minutes to hit 50 percent and then suddenly shot up to 100. The console rebooted, and I get back to the SAME screen saying
'Your Hard Disk is corrupted and will be restored'
So I go through it again, this time its much faster. It hits 100 percent and reboots. Back to the same screen.
There is no way to cancel this restore option. (unless I turn the console off and see what happens next)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And no, it's not under warranty anymore.
Thanks in advance.
