So I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my ps3, can anyone help?
So to cut a long story short, my 640gb hardrive upgrade on my ps3 corrupted and after trying all ways possible to recover the data before formatting, it would not work. So I put the hardrive back into my FAT ps3 and formatted it. The ps3 tried to boot up and I got a message saying it can't boot up properly, I need to connect a device with a firmware update of 4.11 or higher.
So I connected my ipod that I usualy use to put music onto my ps3, which is of course formatted to FAT 32. Creating the 'PS3' folder, then inside the 'UPDATE' folder and then placing the 4.11 update into that folder, and connected it to my ps3. I tried pressing select and start together as the message on the screen said, but my ps3 could not find the update....so I tried to do it through the safe mode, it still would not work. I have tried this with 4 different FAT 32 devices now and it wont find the update no matter what I do. I have made sure the devices are set to share information, but it does not work.
After trying to do this with my 640gb hardrive, I tried it with my 80gb hardrive that came with my ps3 when I bought it but again nothing works. I get the same messages everytime. My console can't go to the ps3 operating menu, and I have tried formatting and restoring settings on both hardrives, it just wont find the update on ANY of my FAT 32 devices. I don't understand why, or what i'm doing wrong. Is my ps3 broken? A friend said I should try an older firmware update but I can't find any.I have no idea what to do now and what is wrong.
