Re: NAT type
the exact method will depend on your make / model of your router but basically:
On the PS3, go to XMB, Settings, Network settings, and choose the option to display what settings you are currently using.
In particular, take note of the PS3's IP address and MAC id.
MAC will be 7 pairs of letters and numbers
On your PC, open a web browser and point it at the interface for your router (see your router manual for exact details, but it will probably be 192.168.1.0 or something like that)
Find the setting which lets you create static IPs for devices.
Typically, you will need to then enter the MAC id of the PS3 (the one you just wrote down)
Assign an IP which is SIMILAR to the one your PS3 was using, but end it in .99 - so if it was 192.168.1.7 use 192.168.1.99
Now find the setting on the router interface which allows you to set up a DMZ (usually this comes under the heading of 'firewall')
This will allow you to enter the IP of the device which you want in the DMZ (ie your PS3), so put in the IP which you just set for it (the one ending in .99)
save the settings on the router, and reboot both it and the PS3 (doesn't matter which first)
dada!
Your PS3 should now be in the DMZ, and HOPEFULLY that will sort your issues out
