I`ve just bought a PS3 with Killzone 2, Fifa 09 and Drakes Fortune and along with playing Blu ray dvd`s, the sound is working superbly. The PS3 is connected to a Samsung TV with a HDMI cable and also to a KEF KIT 200 home entertainment system through an optical digital cable.

Everything was working fine until I tried playing Resident Evil 5, there is no sound at all. I am certain everything is correct on the settings options but the only time I can get sound coming through is by changing the audio settings to HDMI from the optical option and that is obviously only through the television speakers..

I would be very grateful if anyone had any idea what my problem is? :-(

  I run my PS3 to my Denon receiver using hdmi and I also get no sound from RE5. All other games and movies play. I even have sound from the game when on the xmb screen but as soon as the game starts ...nothing.

Might be an idea to call Capcom Technical Support 0800 587 6638

Go into the Audio Output Settings  ---> HDMI ---> Manual ---> disable Dolby Digital 5.1 ch

You will still get multi channel PCM sound.

Worked for me ... hope it fixes your issue.
