Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset - Too Sensitive / No Noise Reduction?

Hi,

I have had the Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset for quite some time now (as part of the SOCOM bundle). But it has barley been used as it is pretty much useless for me.

The problem i have is that it picks up every single sound, be it from the TV, or even things happening 2 or 3 rooms away, not only is that embarrassing it's also highly annoying for the person on the receiving end. Rendering my Headset pretty much useless.

What i don't understand though is that i have a Logitech USB Vantage headset and it is fantastic, it doesn't even pick up the noise of my nearby PC's fans, yet the PS3 picks up everything!

I have tried it in both Normal and HQ mode, no joy.

Also one thing i have noticed is that the Sensitivity level in the Audio Device Settings is stuck on 3. It is the only option highlighted in white the other options are all greyed out.

Please help, the only reason i got this headset is the wireless plus the important mute function (i know that annoyingly bleeps - but i can deal with that, the worst thing is how sensitive it is).

Thanks.

Help!

:smileysad:

Wish Sony would just release a patch so that i can set my Mic Level to 1 and not have it stuck on 3!

Re: Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset - Too Sensitive / No Noise Reduction?

I don't have one, but I do know that many people do :smileyhappy:
I do know that the sensitivity is locked at 3 though, so at least that isn't a problem (as such).

And it does appear that several people find this too sensitive, but no one seems to have come up with a solution, other than (possibly!) turning off HQ or pairing via bluetooth, which MAY allow you to change the level - but I'm not certain on that, and I think it removes some functionality like battery level display.

sorry I can't help more! :smileysad:

And we weren't even testing for that..

I have been reading up on it, and Sony themselves locked it at Level 3 with a Firmware update.

I have tried Pairing it with the USB Cable and with Bluetooth...the bluetooth method actually unlo9cks the volume setting.

However, it has no effect, be it Level 1 or Level 5 it is still the same level despite it saying that it isn't....also this method reduces the quality and gives off static.

It's such a shame, it's a good mic, but i can't use it. It pics up everything, the TV despite it being low, me pressing buttons on the Pad, other people in different rooms.

Re: Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset - Too Sensitive / No Noise Reduction?

I have exactly the same problem!! I can hear my dog breathing two rooms away!! BREATHING!!

Its so irritiating, i know how annoying it is for me, so i feel bad for the people on the receiving end..

The mic i have is the official Sony PS3 one, so you would think you could change the settings.

I have been spying on this post for a while... but no. Everyone is useless :xCry:

I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack....

I'm having the same issue with my Official PS3 headset.

one thing i discovered was that  while playing MW2, my friend had everyone muted but i didn't, however he was still able to hear everyones voices through my mic, this made no sense because the voices only come out of the headset. which lead me to think my head resonates ppls voices. or the mic is super sensitive lol.

at the moment i have my headset volume full and just play with the volume of ppls voices in the ingame options. which lead me to think maybe the volume buttons on the headset effect the mic volume as well as the speaker volume.

if this is the case then try turning the volume down on the headset using the buttons on it, and also turn the voices volume up in the ingame options (MW2 has this option not sure about other games).

however i havent tested this due to it being 1am. ill post back once i have tested this.

Re: Official PS3 Bluetooth Headset - Too Sensitive / No Noise Reduction?

try turning input device in audio settings to do not use then change 3 to 1 then change input device back onto headset, leave output device as headset or system default, this worked for my PS3 wireless headset.
