I bought a ps3 with the yellow light i had it fixed but it will not connect to the internet a friend at work said it sounds like someone has jailbreaked it what ever that means an the other thing is the pad will only work if the cable is plugged in.Now is there any thing i can do to try an sort this????? ow an i formated the hdd an noticed it has firmware 3.41 to

Download the firmware onto a USB stick and update the PS3 manually.

http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/support/system-software/detail/item305376/Update-features-%28ver-3-50%...

Note the directory layout must be PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP (all uppercase).
