I know any films you buy from the PS store, unlike games, can't be transferred to another console using an external hdd... so my question is if i back up all the movies i bought with my current console onto my external hdd and replace the internal hdd (with a 750gb capacity to my standard 160gb) and then restore all the data back from my external hdd will the PS store movies be properly recognized and restored or will there be some form of copyright infirngment that won't let me play them? Like when you try and transffer them to another console? TY

replacing the internal hdd is as good as buyinh a new console. i don't think the movies will be recognised.
It depends on how new consoles are recognised. Ususally on a PC, the software is tied to the motherboard. I'm not sure if it's the same on the PS3, or whether it simply depends on whether or not it is activated for video.
I'd suggest (If you go for it) to backup everything possible, then deactivate the console in Account Management (For games and video), then reactivate after swapping drives.

That's exactly what I'll be doing. Fingers crossed! Thank you for the imput : )
