PS3 DMZ issues - BT Home Hub

First of all for the purposes of this, ill let you know that i am confident with networking.

I have a BT Home Hub software version 6.2.6.H.

Now, with the home hub(piece of ****) for any device to show up to be able to be put in a DMZ, you have to give your PS3 a dynamic IP address(automatic on the PS3). Only then will it show up.

So i made it automatic, put it in the DMZ and used the same adress that was given to it automatically for its static IP address. So it has a static address and is in a DMZ. But Putting it in a DMZ changes its nat type to strict(type 3). Anyone know how to fix this?

When i assign it a static address outside a DMZ its nat type is type 2 but whenever i put it into a dmz it changes to type 3. anyone familiar with this?

Re: PS3 DMZ issues - BT Home Hub

weird - it obviously should be the other way round if anything!

Personally, I get my (Netgear) router to do the assigning of ALL my device IPs, based on their MACs, so as not to accidentally end up with conflicts - but doing what you are doing should work just as well.

But if you've got Nat type 2 with the non-static, non-DMZ method (somehow!), then I'd leave it at that, as 2 is fine :smileyhappy:

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: PS3 DMZ issues - BT Home Hub

can you confirm if you assigned the static IP in the PS3 network setting screens?
(I'm assuming you did the PS3 'manual' setup option and just flipped through the screens until you got to the IP selection?)

I really can't understand how a device that is properly in a DMZ could get NAT 3 :smileysad:
