I bought a laser for a 60gig phat PS3 from a fellow ebayer. I put it in and it would not read any disks. Looking into it I found this -
This Laser lens is supplied with an Anti Static Point Solder Point, To activate this laser you will need this point removed, to remove you will need a soldering iron, if you do not remove this point the Laser Lens will NOT Work.
Can someone PLEASE tell me where this is as I see nothing.
Laser Model No. KES-400A
Peace ![]()

From the sound of things the PS3 laser you named doesn't have one, which may indicate it was added after manufacturing. However if it does it'd be a blob of solder on it that needs to be removed prior to use. From looking at a few sites it's something like this:

*This is a differrent model of PS3 laser.

Yea I seen that picture too on ebay. I have emailed a few from ebay but had no reply yet. As it says that is a different modle laser. The KES-400A the sides are incased. I have done a spot the difference with the old one and I see no difference where there could be a spot of solder. I have also removed the cover on the bottom to look inside.
Am I missing something or have I been had on ebay!!!

Yea thanks bud. Think I will leave it at that. See if I can get a bit cash back from ebay. I would still want a laser though but buying from the internet even from shops seems very dodgy. Items, pictures and descriptions just are not correct. Two original 60gig's here. Shame to let them go to waste seems they dont have YLOD.....yet
