I recently bought a 32" HD TV (Panasonic Viera L32E3D) and tried connecting my PS3 to it. It works using the AV cables, but I don't get any picture or sound when I connect the HDMI cables.

The PS3 detects the HDMI cable correctly, but for some reason there is no picture/sound.

I tried my PS3 with other HDTVs and they all work perfectly well.

My TV works correctly with my Laptop and STB using HDMI.

I even tried different HDMI cables, but nothing works.

I also tried reseting video settings (2 beeps), update of PS3 firmware and restore factory settings on the PS3.

Panasonic tech support blamed Sony and Sony service center near my home only supports exchange of damaged PS3s and not repairs. That hasn't helped either

I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

If the TV has more than one HDMI port, did you try another port?
Does the TV HDMI port in question work with other HDMI devices?

Yup.. TV has 3 ports and I tried all of them... Yeah, TV works with my laptop, Set top Box etc.

Is the tv full 1080p HD, or does it support full 1080p input?

If it's not 1080p or 1080p compatible, try connecting with the av cable, and changing the display settings on your ps3 to only output 720p (Settings - Display Settings - Video output settings - HDMI) Select custom and uncheck 1080p and 1080i. Then connect up with your HDMI cable again.

The TV supports 1080p and I have my set top box outputting 1080p. I'm not able to get any sort of picture in HDMI mode, so don't have any option to uncheck the resolutions and check..

If I remember correctly. Hold down the power button when it switches on, and it resets to the default display settings. Then you should be able to set up the HDMI.

I've tried that.. hasn't helped me...

Right now I'm talking to the dealer to give me a Sony or Samsung HDTV in exchange for my panasonic.
