PS3 Slim. Random Shutdown, Overheating?

I have a PS3 slim which I purchased sometime in late 2009, Recently (Past month or so...haven't been playing it much!) After about hour or so of playing the PS3 will just shutdown, without warning it just completely turns off, the red standby light goes off, and to turn it on again you need to disconnect and then reconnect the power cable at the back of PS3, will turn on again then sooner (usually 20minutes or so) it will do exact same thing...is it overheating? anyone else had this problem? The PS3 is sat next to a 360 but not "in the way", so maybe fans have lots of crap in them, should i stick a hoover on the back? try suck it out!? Ive also tried the method of holding power button for 10 seconds waiting for 3 beeps then showing the tech screen, i chose check file system or whatever options were and it still didnt fix it....help?! how could i go about sending it back ?!

Please use plain text.

Re: PS3 Slim. Random Shutdown, Overheating?

Definitely hoover, but seriously consider taking it back and swapping for a new one while it is still in warranty :smileyhappy:

(read my YLOD thread - link in my sig line below - about the things you need to do before swapping it)

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..

When? when its plugged in i get a normal red light until i press it to turn it on...the it goes green... the ps3 works fine, its just after a certain amount of time it shuts itself off without warning

When it shuts itself off, does it sit there with blinking red light?

Nope, after it switches off there are no lights whatsoever, you have to unplug the electric cable then put it back in which will bring back the standby red light on the power button

that could be a 'ylod' failure, depending on when the red light is flashing.

have a read of my ylod thread - link is in my sig line below
